new generation about oldskool games

category: general [glöplog]
Psonice: neither me, but I say to myself 'In the [near] future I will' =). But those which I remember from my childhood, I play from time to other. Try Heavy Barrel or Guerrilla Wars (quite similar to Ikari Warriors). There is an IW clone, placed in the future.. Forgot the name. A real shit, thou =/.

Sim: I used to think i'd have time one day too :) But then, i realised that there were so many things i'd have time to do 'one day', and gave up on most of them :)

The kids today have played half-life, so you just cant fool them.
I loved boulder dash, but compared to, todays games it is pure shit.
Besides i kondda feel the same way, i loved the games back then, today i think they're boring for more than 10min nostalgia trippin.
The only game i truely miss, is leander...that was the baddest.
Still play project-x(unmatched) and superfrog though :D

(pssst...anyone got leander images?)

Psonice: Yep, that is why I put a '=)'. Never the less, I try to do as many things as possible. But me too, I gave up on those cases who are insignificant in the long term. Reality.... =)

Iblis: True.. Sometimes the nostalgia trip is a 'waste of time'. But we WILL defend some innovations from our childhood or 'heros' (for example from different games =). As our father defend some transistor old-fasioned solutions, vinyl records (I agree here), etc.

Yeah man vinyl all the way, and dad is right, tube amps are the baddest... But that is something else ;D

Tube amps, vinyl and concrete speakers. But just try pursuading a woman ;)

Psonice: woman can be persuaded with flowers and words ;).
Iblis: nope, nobody is... Just look at Rockford. He still has the same look after almost 20 years of running away from lava, rocks an 'butterflies'. Does it mean [quarry] work makes the time stands still ;)

If you go to an arcade hall today, you see two kinds of games: pistol shoot'em'ups and car races. Nothing else. A hall with 100 machines has 50 of this and 50 of that. I think 'nuff said...

Tomcat: and martial arts beat'em ups too...

Arcades are usually located nearby to beer-dispenser places. And Tetris or Super Mario is definetely not the game I want to play when I'm drunk. :)
When I go to an Arcade, I mostly take some two-player car race with some friend, and have a kickass time, because at home we don't have two identical PC's with force feedback steering wheels and pedals and TV-sized monitors and comfy seats :)

Gargaj: Being drunk and driving or shooting. Do you mistake the directions or enemies with your co-ops? ;). It is fun too =).

Most fun game i played when drunk was a golf game on amiga. It's seriously great when you actually manage to hit the ball and everyone cheers :)

I once also played quake 2 after taking lsd. Not a good move :) I found a cupboard in the game, and hid inside cause I was scared of being shot.

I tried a shooter or so after some herb stuff. I was soooo fascinated by the graphics.... Shooting bad dudes was not as important as the fineness gfx ;)

pilot wings on nintendo 64 was my favourite for that. There was an option to fly with wings instead of an engine, with no objective, so you could just float on the wind for ages + admire the graphics :)
