Looking for a c64 / c++ coder for help with a new live act.

category: code [glöplog]

Hi guys

I've started piecing together a new live act using old school hardware. Currently the setup will be two amigas running a custom protracker player I've bulky called PT-1210 ;)

The basis is it plays protracker mods with the ability to change the bpm and it adjusts the pitch of the samples. However I'd really love to get a c64 in the mix too but I can't code on that for shit!

I was wondering if there's anyone on here who fancied building the tools for the c64? Basic setup would be to play goat tracker files with CIA timing. Would also mean modding the goat tracker app which is c++ to use CIA. I know it's a big ask but hoping someone might be up for it!

Thought I'd add anyone interested in having a play with PT-1210 and a couple of amigas, get in touch!

Doesn't sound that complicated. But what exactly are you going to do? CIA timing means 60 Hz (instead of 50 Hz on PAL machines) playback speed. Or do you want to trigger those interrupts externally?

What I'm after is to replicate the bpm (CIA) timing used in protracker but in goat tracker. Then have a player for the song files on the c64 which allows you to live adjust the bpm. There's also additional functional like looping patterns and nudging the track to keep it in time with the other hardware.

Happy to send the Amiga version to anyone who needs to see what I'm talking about.

I took a quick look at GoatTracker and it seems that GoatTracker itself can't build standalone players so the modifications to be done would be outside of GoatTracker.

Here's a quick hack I made that permits changing speed using the joystick.

Also, a recording of the amiga version might be handy - I don't have amiga hardware.

Hey Kabuto! That's basically it! Seems a bit of a shame that there isn't a standalone player for the original song files. Anyway.. fire an email to me...

and i'll send you over an emulated setup of the Amiga player I've built so you can see what its doing.
