Amiga - "execbase in chip memory"

category: general [glöplog]

This came up when I tried to run Alcatraz Odyssey HD in Amiga Forever via the Workbench 1.3 system in the Launcher.

It was in the style of a Guru Meditation, and I can understand why it happened as I was trying to run program code in Chip memory which is meant to be for the custom chips, but I figured that it would run in Fast anyway.

I googled and googled but can't find a way to run a program in Fast memory, and I frankly can't remember how I used to do it back in my Amiga days.

Anyone here know?

Use this patch which fixes the problem or just use the WHDLoad version.

Thanks for the tip, but after installing the patch over the original files, it still crashed with the same error and what's more, ChipToFast caused the Amiga to reset and it still didn't fix the problem.

I'll see if I can track down the five-floppy version instead.

That ChipToFast resets the machine is perfectly normal as it patches the memory lists. If you don't want to deal with that just use the WHDLoad version.

Thanks, StingRay.
