- btw, if you want to beat us, start at <=10 bytes, we've got 11, but we wanted to release something aesthetic :)

- 64k Windows fr-minus-03: farbomat by Farbrausch [web]
- After years without art, design or imagination, finally a concept masterpiece from the people who always could have do this, but just were too busy being better than the others. I admire it and them.

- demo Windows Sotakone by mfx [web]
- Yep, demo rocks, nice to see MFX is still alive and kicking (their MS2001 demo, 3rd booth disappointed me somehow). Consistent design, flow and a message which the average watcher's brain won't be reluctant to get like in so many other demos.
Only downside is the music, twostep with some slight industrial influences isn't what i would call imaginative, and one has heard better songs of its kind.
Still, nice.

- demo Windows itami_ by Throb [web] & the|neonray [web]
- I don't know if my comment came through, so if this is the second one, beat me...
I've said it before and I'll say it again: Noise/Industrial is MORE than random patterns and flipping signed/unsigned.
This may be music, but it's at best VERY mediocre for its kind.
Anyway, ripping music sucks, the demo also sucks, sad that i can't give TWO thumbs down.

- voting for oneself's productions suck, but it can't get sillier than the above comment, so what the hell.

- demo Windows ABCDEmo by The Project [web]
- poor mfx... they don't even get their deserved attention in joke demos *g*
Anyway, nice effort this, though it could have been a bit faster (there are some ugly "gaps" in the time line)

- demo Commodore 64 JOOP! by The Obsessed Maniacs
- Coding worlds-first effects, accidentally not reelasing them and let the award go to Byterapers SUCKS. Thanks. :)

- demo invitation Linux Windows VIP 2 by Popsy Team [web]
- First of all: Ripping music sucks.
And this is no "nerd" point of view, that's for the most part that i still have this small fate in the fact that demo sceners are CREATIVE and do things THEMSELVES. Gosh, if you were out for the ultimate artistic experience, you'd used XSI and AfterEffects and released it as DivX. This way, the frame rate would be even higher.
If asking a scene musician if he can do a Fear Factory-alike track in two mmonths results in slightly lesser music quality, that's completely ok. The demo may be only place 5 instad of 3 and may only have 95% popularity instead of 99%, but the fact that it's YOUR demo and not that of SOMEONE ELSE (if Fear Factory's music label ever chose to sue your ass off, they would definitely succeed, as the wonderful tight integration of music and visuals make every "fair use" discussion quite senseless). Fact is, you distibuted a commercial track all over the net (and placed it on many uncommercial and otherwise legal FTP sites) without any consent from the copyright owners. Any i know, Fear Factory will most certainly rather profit from this than lose anything, but you could've at least ASKED. Or give credits. Or anything.
So next time, go to the musician of your choice, get some good guitarists and do it yourself. It will definitely feel better. For you, for the musician, for the scene and for all the bands that you didn't rip off.
The reason why i give a "thumbs up" in spite of this rant is simply that i love this demo.
