- Thx for all your comments, it always helps to improve. I am already working on the next and I hope better demo.
I don't use the spectrum algorithm but a fully handmade, especially when spectrum displays 48 colors in 320 pixels, mine can display 48 for only 192 pixels.
The complexity when cross-fading 2 pictures (blurs, logo are also crossfades FX) is beyond the complexity of solving a simple picture : exactly the square, going from millions to millions of millions of possible combinations. I was myself surprise with the quite good quality.
No pixels are moving in this demo, there is no C2P and no chunk technic, every effect is "just" made of rasters & palettes cycling with fixed pixels.
It was fun to imagine how classic FX using pixels could work in this way with the color improvement for free.
The "hicolor" display is using 65-75% of the CPU time at every frame, music about 5-10%, 20-25% remains for the calculations.
Most effects are running at 50hz/1 vbl except the phong (lotus flower & girl in leather).
Wondering what this technic would looks on Amiga with the 32 colors and the copper improvements...
