- demo Linux Windows MacOSX Intel Melodice by Damage
- Alright, I’ve been hearing that one person wants to run “Melodice” without full-screen, someone else wants a different window size, and yet another friend wants to see the FPS counter. So - one last time (I hope, because I really want to move on!) - I dug the project back out and made a “Coder’s Cut” release. It comes with an external config file:
Code:config/settings.py
There you can toggle dev-mode (with scrolling, pause, etc.), pop up a GUI for filters, capture the output to a file, switch full-screen on/off, show a frame-rate meter, enable video sync, cap the frame rate, or set any window size you like.
This isn’t pure altruism ;-) - with this “one weird trick” I’ll save myself pain in later projects: if something misbehaves on the compo machine, instead of doing a new build I can just tweak the settings file in any text editor and instantly test multiple variants.
Disclaimer: It’s not a secret build, but I’m not planning to upload it to scene.org either. It’s a coder’s version for anyone who’s interested. I haven’t tested every possible combo of settings; some definitely clash and a few may lead to odd behavior. You use it at your own risk - worst case, the demo just won’t start or will look awful. If anything major breaks, let me know; it’s probably a tiny fix and I can still patch it.
Have fun!
As usual, I’ve got Linux, macOS, and Windows builds here:
