I think Chiptune is rather a technical term. Actually this music comes from the C64 era, doesn't it? Where you just had the sound-"chip" which produced a tone and you then played around with the ADSR parameters.
I would rather call "chiptune-style" what you linked to.
Anyway, I think the only distinction between tracked and rendered music is and has always been the difference in size. That's why I personally don't think that Madtracker2-song which are SMALLER when they are rendered to MP3 make any sense in a competition. - isokadded on the 2004-12-11 21:16:32
