- virgill: what mastering? there's hardly any :D sound was "finished" a a day before the party, and i kinda wasnt in the mood for going through 105 tracks. just hooked in ozone, re-eq'd a few sounds that hurt the ear a little too much, and emergency-pushed a few parts 2db up in premiere before rendering out the final file (now THAT totally disqualifies my mastering skillz ;).

about quality: this video is imho the most one person can achieve within two weeks (including shooting, postproduction and sound). sadly, i have to earn money to make a living and for buying equipment (like a halfway usable bluescreen + light, a wide lens converter, etc.). i would have preferred to have shot this thing in hd, for example, but doing videos requires, besides the amount of time, terribly expensive equipment (and software, if you're not using warezed stuff). to name one consequence: due to the low color resolution of the minidv format, the keying for example CAN NOT be done much better :) the golden "shit in, shit out" rule applies everytime when "recording stuff" comes into play. so much about the lack of image quality.
concerning the execution, please keep in mind that i had some restrictions like "I am only one guy who can do one thing at a time", even though i had help with a few shots.
It was quite difficult and needed some trickish fakery to achieve at least the amount of quality a "funny party vid" requires, and i can not provide anything better as long as nobody finances it.
might be that i'll try completely artificial footage again, makes things a LOT simpler.
i think i'll put the script online in a while, to give a little more insights into the video production process (which is imho quite interesting).
So instead of lamenting about a lack of quality, do some quality stuff yourself, like hybris nemesis did, or aenima. - isokadded on the 2008-08-11 20:13:30
