- demo Commodore 64 Comaland by Censor Design [web] & Oxyron [web]
- People who say that "Comaland" is not well designed mean to say that they cannot see a single unifying theme to hold this hugely impressive collection of effects together. However, I disagree. There is a single unifying theme here and it is called "excess". This demo is too much of everything. Too much graphics, too much attention to detail, too much obsessive polish. This is a demo-making equivalent of Dubai. And while it is easy to come up with criticisms for various aspects of this demo, the truth of the matter is, this is a massive shit-load of hard work and one just cannot help but gets carried away by the thrills offered here, even if these are thrills of a Disneyland roller-coaster.

- demo Commodore 64 RGB by Fairlight [web] & Offence [web] & Prosonix
- Of the three top demos from X this year "RGB" is the most imperfect, the most unbalanced and the most human. The opening scenes, with their hidden (unintended?) citation from Lana Del Ray sets up the mood really well. "Will you still love me when I am no longer young and beautiful". The actual basic concept (three colour components) is too weak to hold the demo together, so it starts to feel a little tired and runs out of steam towards the end and it is not really delivering on the promise of the opening scenes. Still, for me personally, this is the only one of the three top demos I could really connect to.

- demo ZX Spectrum nq32 by Kpacku
- See what ZX Spectrum can do for you in the 21st century. Do not accept cheap fakes and never settle for anything less awesome. This demo is too sleek for the old school and too abstract for the new school. I'm telling you guys, this is what university looks like.

- demo MS-Dos Square by Pulse [web]
- One of the best demos on any platform, clearly. Stunning and very influential design, you can see it's echoing in many demos that come later.

- demo Windows Fall Equals Winter by Replay
- Absolutely lovely in every way. Not a bit of a self-congratulatory coder proudly shifting tons of pixels in this demo. Just pure design.

- demo ZX Spectrum Zombie TV by g0blinish
- The music is stunning. The demo itself is good, but not great, imho. On the one hand, I loved to see few things properly synchromized to the soundtrack. I liked few design ideas: a creep with the sine sparks (although the effect seemed a little timid) or the Easter island idols on the chunky background. It was also nice to see some good graphics thrown in. On the other hand, the whole thing does not quite gel together, the seams are sometimes too obvious. It almost feels like it was sewn together from not fully matching pieces, like zombies that it tries to make fun of.
Make no mistake, this is a great step forward for g0blinish. This is his first honest attempt at designed demo. It may well be just me not being able to truly enjoy it. - rulezadded on the 2014-10-09 18:12:37
- demo ZX Spectrum DWON by Hacker VBI
- I would like to make a statement. My statement is: "I never endorsed smoking in any shape or form. The guy on the right DID NOT hold a cigarette in my demo!"
Thank you! - isokadded on the 2014-09-27 19:55:19
- demo ZX Spectrum Mopas by kabardcomp
- Siril's track is amazing and the animation is surreal and arresting.
In my opinion, this is your best work thus far, congratulations. - rulezadded on the 2014-09-27 14:08:17
- demo ZX Spectrum Timmy by Speccy.pl [web]
- I was watching and thinking, no, no, no, this is way too oldschool for my liking (even though Piesiu's image is stunning, as usual). But then you showed that digital watch and played around the keyboard design and you are totally forgiven now :)
Have there been many demos made for Timex? I tried searching last year, but could not find anything at all. Is this the first _real_ demo for Times?! - rulezadded on the 2014-09-21 21:31:42
- 128b ZX Spectrum Snake121 by alone coder
