- Maytz: It's a *static overlay* that never even exists in the chunky buffer, so there's no need whatsoever for baking it into the c2p since it already comes for free. :)
As for the displacement maps; I dare you to do a similar effect using the techniques you mentioned. ;)
Anyway, I'm turning into one of those 'tards who turn prod comments into forum threads.. :( - isokadded on the 2011-02-11 14:33:13

- Maytz: I don't know how you newschool PC kids do things but I can guarantee that there's no displacement maps in the cloud part. :)
However, there is a static color overlay (2 bitplanes) which is indeed a bit too visible / creates aliasing. I did consider animating it or toning down the color gradient to make it less visible (like in some of the other parts of the demo), but never got around to it.
Annoyingly these overlays also seem to create visible banding on *some* displays and projectors (most visible in the cloud and meta-grid-thingie parts), which I'll need to look into if I ever reuse this technique. For now you'll just have to pretend this is how things work on Amiga ;) - isokadded on the 2011-02-11 13:19:11
