• the scenes (and their base colors) didnt really speak to me but the uncovering transition looks good and i loved the pink/purple (hard to tell from the scene) quads flying around (including shadows), that really made it work for me (for me it was a crucial detail)

  Exactly. And Smash didn't write about it for nobody to read, nor do I think he was the only one to come up with it. And other demos and intros use huge particle sets as well. And this particular effect doesn't even look the same. And another thousand reasons why it isn't really a parallel worth drawing.
