- @jazzcat probably compression artefacts. The music player works by shaping an 8-bit waveform using the volume registers. So f.ex if the volume of ~512 bytes from the original 16-bit source is low, it will set the volume register low and use 8-bits to try to fit the data from the original space. It's reccommended in the Amiga HW reference manual actually to get the best quality from the sound chips.
