ASIO and VST are both openly licensed these days, so Steinberg quite literally has made "this happen" -
Why would Steinberg make alternatives to their own interfaces? -
I have working systems, not gonna change them just for the sake of it. I have zero will to start tinkering, I'd rather compose and mix. -
This is exactly that dysfunctional shit the demo was talking about. 20+ years linux on desktop, been totally enjoying it and the fact that I control my own my own computer. Beaming myself into the future. But I understand not all people want that! -
I switched to Linux last year and it has been going pretty well for me. - I administered linux boxes starting from '94 so yeah, been on linux desktop too, never been enjoying it much though :) http://byterapers.com/~legend/venusconsole.gif but CLI, more (also because a lot of servers did not have X running (that reminds me of warezed accelX :D))

- ^ML!^: I'm actually waiting for some reasonably priced ARM laptops, that are not apple and not chasing fastest cpu. Just would need a long battery time :)

i'm extremely tied to windows in terms of software, especially VSTs, ableton itself, adobe and other creative software. PLUS a bunch of demo-graphics-gamedev software i've made which uses WinAPI directly...
