What maali said tbh - "as if the camera was on a real plane" should do. But mostly what I'm trying to avoid is too arch and unpleasant movements

sadly only german, but an underestimated entrypoint, next to camera physics. https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Montagerhythmus - 1. Move only in one dimension (cranes are HARD), 2. Avoid zooming, 3. Cut instead of panning, 4. Make it SLOW
- lots of movements on camera work only makes sense if you're mimicking a drone or an exciting car chase. for the rest a static cam with some subtle panning, zooming or whatever, helps drawing the viewer to the important parts on the screen
- Composition is important, and moving cameras make it a lot harder, and panning imo even more so. Zooming should be REALLY mildly used, unless going for more rugged documentary/handheld impression. In that case remember camera shake.

I wish Hollywood would adhere to these obvious advices. - it's for a shmup so it's not that far from an exciting car chase ! ^^ I don't do any lateral panning and I don't zoom so I guess I'm on a right track :)

Use a hand tracking thing / VR controllers / etc. to record camera paths that are similar to real camera movement. - Well, if you've got a Steadicam :)
