It's got growing tubes, it's got boom boom brrrr, it's got robot figures, it has electrical pulses and a fluid simulation and chromatic thingythingies and things going into pieces and glitchy stuff. In other words, it's got all the high end demo production values and cliches of 2026 in a slop form. If there's an unifying concept or an idea or a vision or some soul behind it, I can't really find it. It's just stuff. Some of it good-looking.

This sort of an approach to making things annoys the fuck out of me and I'd thumb it down, but I'll give it a piggy because when it comes to the fidelity, I couldn't do any better myself.

what Preacher said, with a thumb (I enjoyed the show)

I love this type of cliché! Great job guys. Very much joy to watch.

By coincidence sat right next to ntsc_ through Revision and followed his progress with this one. I wish I had half of his speed and skills with Notch. Liked the outcome!

Another rushed demo during the party as usual:) . I’ll be releasing a slightly more polished version later this week. It was a real challenge to get a demo ready for the party...
On Friday, I don’t have all the music yet, empty timeline ..just all in my head. Gloom did a brilliant job, I’m really grateful to him. The entire editing was done during the party, and unfortunately, it kept crashing on the compo machine. So I ended up changing a third of the demo’s scenes. And yes, I do like cliché demos. There needs to be something for everyone.

Pretty much what Preacher said; it just leaves me empty inside. Plus it visibly struggled on the compo PC's RTX 5080.

Love it. Especially the music.

Cool demo. Didn't feel like cliché to me, more like ntsc_'s take and personal exploration on some classical cyberpunk themes. (and I loved it)
Kudos to gloom for perfectly encapsulating this into a track.

What Preacher said, but with a motivational thumb. Wish you have time to actually polish the next one.

Felt like the usual cocoon demo, but with a bit more polish than usual. if this is the rushed work, i'd love to see something that's got all the attention something like this deserves :)

for my money this has much less polish than i've come to expect; mostly empty scenes, awkward animations (sometimes with FFT or envelope followers), jarring inertialess camera paths, strange color work, previz quality lighting (the cathedral scene early on…), etc. the theme also feels quite tired, with the demo not even having anything novel or interesting to present about it, interspersed with standard notch B-roll abstract procedural effects. i think the hands scene was the only part here that'd be worth writing home about. also, the standard notch visual quality doesn't even hold up that well here with things so rough around the edges, sometimes even literally, like the aliasing around contrasty object edges in several scenes, like, the screenshot, you can even see some of it still there after downscaling!

you can and have done much, much better. i get that sometimes you just wanna churn out something quickly for fun, but this one doesn't hold up even on the first viewing. i don't think this "sucks", but i wish you can give yourself more time to work on these in the future. :)

yeah, "run of the mill-cocoon style" (which is still good stuff) with some same old notch effects. didn't bring anything memorable to the table, so piggy.
A very solid demo with visually pretty interesting parts and nice music.
It indeed feels like a rather random collection but that's probably something that can be fixed with the right cuts and a bit of push in the sync.
Let's hope for a final!

I find it pretty remarkable that some people have such high expectations for a Cocoon demo that they’d give a thumb-down for this one...

Watched this demo about 20 times since Revision. Cannot understand the criticism of »emptyness«. Everything that has to be in a Cocoon-demo is there! An the kickass-soundtrack glues it together.

It is indeed a bit all over the place, but there are some very nice scenes in this one. And the soundtrack is a banger.

a couple of cool finds (hands + liquid sim scene was nice), but otherwise it's a pretty hollow set of the same effects.

Proper demo in my book.

A Notch Demo that successfully made me forget the fact that I'm watching a Notch Demo. Massive prod, and rulez, ofc
