just a note: this is running in the terminal - had written an ansi pixel half block rendering engine 2 yrs ago. the demo uses it and was written using claude code.

ah forgot: it runs best in a fast terminal. on mac I used kitty, ghostty - and on linux kitty. any decent terminal it will run smooth. the ubuntu default one is quite slow, the video at assembly was recorded using the ubuntu standard terminal.

Best would be to not answer. This is the sand in the head stance. I right - u not.
So what is the scene, do you see it in danger? My stance on AI is:
I wrote the rendering engine myself. I wrote a game on it, I know how to do things. Here AI is a time-saver. I did also write a plasma for example, when the engine formerly was in c++.
I can do scrollers, subpixel speeds, etc. But I can also ask AI - write the scroller "engine", then direct it on specifics. Or flash out the plasma algo. Saves me typing, iterate faster. I can concentrate on the details, just need not manually do all myself.
The distinction is the sound: it would have taken me weeeks to track a soundtrack and I like experimenting with suno. To see how capable this is. Then I took the mp3, fits the topic of the compo.

I could also say fuck web, fuck shaders, fuck 3d engines.
Cause 40 years ago it was real achievements - rasterbars, rastersplits, open borders, sprite multiplexers, fast scrolling, new colormodes, fld, dycp, you name it.
Todays computers are so capable - where is the craft now? What are you trying to defend? When one writes an engine himself to make 64k demos/intros - and then uses the tool to make an intro that is an achievement. Re-using the tool over and over - then is just ... putting different data into it. So where is the craft, where is the work?
I think today you can only judge creativity - when it is not about artifical constraints like size constraints. Where is the difference to using a tool (3d engine) vs letting ai code that routines for you? You are just operating textures, effect parameters, etc, but are _also_ not coding.
AI can be a tool to assist - just like your 3d engine. You are using both, not writing them. In this sense AI is a valid tool imho.
