Charming and personal. Kind of an overlooked gem at 11th.

The most haunting and beautiful production of the party. The first half of the track might be my favorite piece of music from the party. Same thing with the graphics work on the first half. The scenery—despite being very stylized—are some of the most believable looking outdoors environments ever in the scene. I mean there was actual on-location background research performed for this, and that shows. Not to mention also the character design. I love your style and taste, Aurora.

The latter half and some of the camerawork (whoa slow down!) bring it down a bit, but doesn't take away the sentiment.

Please never stop.

This is so wonderful. I love this from start to finish; it's one of the very few productions from the party the emotionally sucked me in. Should have ranked higher.

Original as other have mentioned. But has some flaws who drags it down.

This one is my personal favorite from the PC Demo Compo, if not the whole party. If this is how your first PC demo look like, I can't even imagine what you will do in the next two years.

The music was absolutely stunning. Original, well-paced, well-fitting. The painted pictures immediately drew my attention to the screen.

I'm really curious about the origin of the name! Googling revealed it's the name of an island, but the word resembles a lot Polish one: "wianki", which is a name of an event closely connected to Slavic's Kupala Night - and the scenes relate to the theme (woods, grass fields, swamp, human's unity with the nature, etc.). It's probably by accident, still this worked for me as "cherry on the top of a cake"-like ;)

The only thing I didn't like was the fire scene, it somehow destroyed the well-built mood, but also I consider it the weakest part when it comes to the overall visual effect. Still it didn't affect my voting, 5 stars flew out of my phone like crazy ;)

Great job. Demoscene needs MOAR prods this one.

I love the style and the story telling in this. The 3d models and fire felt a bit out of place but the overall feeling was great! So waiting for your next prod already! :)

ThumbUp for great job you doing here, great prod. Also would like to thank for the seminar on Graffaton - How to start doing demos with Processing and Rocket. It triggered me to do my 1st release, and chellenge you in demo compo :).

Thumb up for the style

The music gives off a strong Eduard Artemyev vibe, which, when paired with the painted graphics and the birch trees, makes it look like a USSR-era cartoon. (Probably not a bad thing.)

Also, next time please decide whether you want to burn or mow the forest down. Having both is definitely overkill. :)

My first comment ever here, yikes!

Thank you everyone for your really encouraging comments! We are never going to stop and this wasn't our group's first release: the first one was Watercolour Space. You should check it out if you haven't done it yet! I really like making demos with this cool team we have and I want to learn more and express new things via this magical media.

We are aware of the few "flaws" in our demo. I love it the way it is and it's pretty much what I wanted it to be and a little more. We also want to challenge the classic aesthetics and expectations of the demo scene and explore new ways to approach this spectacular media.

Because the subject of this prod is really close to my heart (Viiankiaapa is a swamp located in Finnish Lapland, Sodankylä, and a global mining company is interested to start a mining project there) I want to make it even better than it is now. I hope that we have time and ambition with msqrt to make the final cut that will make the message more clear and outcome more polished.

I'm not sure about whichever message it's trying to convey, but the rendering of the swamp is absolutely BREATHTAKING. Mother of god.

You should have animated the girl with 2D quaternion animation or something tho.

The visual style is unique and the rendering of the forest is beautiful, but some time around the middle it breaks down for me - I get why the machines are cold, black wireframes, but the camera paths and especially the fire effect are rather clunky and feel incomplete compared to the foilage render.
Still, a thumb for the style, looking forward to more :)
