Yeah! One of the better demos from this weekend for sure! Nothing really mindblowing, but it has an uplifting style and music and general high quality production.

Not your best, but very nice anyway :) Also big ups for making a vocal track that didn't suck as much as most of the others :)

wow! Really good!
The song sounded almost like Placebo, and that's supposed to be meant as something positive! :D

Really Nice! How this could lose against an unimaginative and ugly 3D show.. oh wait, I know.

Great soundtrack! One of the few times were I actually liked vocals in a demo.

Nice demo from outracks as usual. When it comes to the music I am not so sure I am a fan though... Have to agree with ekoli about the placebo-part though. the singer somewhat sounded like the singer in placebo.

My eyes didn't like the gfx, annoying music but nice fractals. Nice to hear a soundtrack that's a bit different from most demo soundtracks even though I didn't like it.

Top prod from outracks. The penguin picture seems a bit out of place, and the demo seems totally out of synch on P4 2.8GHz, Radeon X300, windowed mode. The demo finishes quite a while before the song does (I don't get to hear the whole song). Something to fix for the final-final? :)
rulez added on the 2005-03-29 13:38:33 by Betong Betong
Visuals are quite nice but this one is a real CPU/GPU/Memory hog! I can't watch it with my machine (XP2100+, 512MB DDR, GF4Ti4400 128MB) properly. And the music KICKS ASS! The music if fucking ace!

Pitty that in my machine (512MB Ram, 256MB Vram) it still needs more memory (HD working, black screen, loosing some scenes), cause some effects are great (Water and quaternion fractals actually) and I love the music.

gargaj: sounds odd. the precalc is supposed to take 30-40 seconds. What kind of hardware are you trying to run it on? minimum hardware is about 2ghz cpu, 512mb ram and a decent gfx chip (radeon9600+)

sorry. precalced forever. weird german gothish style. odd soundtrack. fucked up my os radically after termination. not as classy or stylish as synthematik.
I expected better visuals (okay, fuckings to everyone who expects something better because of earlier prods) and the soundtrack could be better. I admit I like the track the more I play it, which usually happens which this kind of songs. I have been a fan of the last Irvin tracks so...

The quaternions looked very aliased. You might want to try supersampling on the grid to get decent isovalues, so you get better results with less polys (and less precalc/waste of memory).

no, there was potential but something was missing from it. and i'm over bored of this kind of synthpop/futurepop-stuff.

seriously ugly as fuck and lacks any sort of design/syncs/direction but the soundtrack is so very good that it lifts this abomination from "sucks" to a piggie. also some effects were quite nice. too bad it all was wasted.

The demo itself is average.
But the music is excellent. This is electro pop but the melody is cool, well produced with this little demoscene spirit in it.

i dunno, i kinda hope it doesnt...
it's a good song but there's nothing that made it unforgettable for me.
maybe it just needs a couple of more listens.

or a demo that fits.

finally watched it (thanks duckers), and i have mixed feelings.
it's a good demo but it doesnt feel "one".
we have a good track and good visuals but.. they just dont meet.

maybe i was just expecting another Synthematik. :/
rulez added on the 2005-04-03 22:56:20 by Gargaj Gargaj
music is fucking excellent, but no matter how much i love duckers, i just hate hate the visuals. fractals are evil and these particular ones aren't even pretty. the rest seems rather uninspired, too.

maybe the coders love this. i sure don't.
added on the 2005-04-04 19:17:05 by skrebbel skrebbel
yes, after many listenings I have to say that the music is spoilt by being in a demo ;) It deserves a far better destiny than being in a so average demo.
I sang it all the day with this little melody in mind and it has a very good pro production. Really.

I stopped the process after 20+ minutes of precalc. The ogg sounds more or less like some pathetic pet shop boys crap but even worser.

Doesn't seem to work here, but I just had to listen to the music anyway, since everyone seems to be going nuts about how great it is. I was so let down to notice it sounded like an average futurepop tune with awful vocals and I'm not sure, but I think I heard autotune being used for the vocals at some part :(

Thumbs down for the music, but not for the production since I couldn't see it :)

i don't know, really... music is well done, but somewhat cheesy.. visuals was not that interesting, even tho i like bumps..
Yikes. If one were to view a screenshot, one might think this demo has promise. But the actual movements are very plain, predictable, and seen billion and billions of times before. Didn't care for the music one bit. The vocalist didn't sound convincing and lyrics were cheese whiz.
If all the time needed for the precalc is due to the two quaternion Julias + marching cubes Surely some improvement could be done!
Decreasing the grid density and/or filtering the computed grid values one or two times would help a lot (since it's a fractal object), obtaining a more smooth model, normals and thus a less jaggy env-map.

Good music and positive effort, waiting for a final-final ;).

No slowdowns here. The water at the beginning looks quite impressive and there are some other nice parts as well. Tho, I am almost tempted to give thumb down here because of the totally fucked up music. Without the vocals it would have been at least acceptable but with the vocals it just totally sucks. And it's the reason I will NEVER EVER watch this demo again. Gawd, what a HORRIBLE music!

What bothers me is the camera directing. If you're going to show something up close, like the airy blobl thing, then you shouldn't use that view for very long. Use long cuts for wider angle shots. I'm still rather new to the scene, but when I saw the 0,5m poly object that is all I ever thought of it. In other words, the 4D julia fractal doesn't mean all that much to a guy like me. The music wasn't my taste either. The vocals ruined it for me.

Awesomage :DD. I adore the soundtrack and it works surprisingly well with the visuals. A lot of cold colours and cold feeling in nice combination with the theme of the song/lyrics. Very well done. I would have liked to see realtime rendered Julia fractals though. As it looked now it could've been an offline-rendered fractal object. The true niceness of 4D Julia fractals lies in the way they shift shape when calculated in realtime and when shifting through different 3D slices of the four-dimensional fractal.
