Waiting for (hd) video to make an opinion.
But the music "sound" very strange in your space demo, imo it doesn't fit well.
Not a bad music; for me it's not this kind of sonority for a space odyssey

Quite a nice intro you have there if wine doesn't cheat me. Gets a bit boring tho.

:S: oh :/

still nice.

Well, the uploaded here is the same sent in a total rush to the party, I had only 2 hours before deadline (only knew remote entries were being accepted last day nearing deadline, and at work). There was NO TIME to make a proper demo of the engine... I'm sorry.

Liked the horizons

I like a lot that kind of effects, planet & space :)

btw imerso, even if you are sorry, please do not vote for your own prod, it's a bit "lame" :(

Looks nice. If you're color blind.
Too long.
Add a band pass next time.

some very high quality visuals, congrats. only thing disturbed me is not the colors (since i'm a coder ;)) but obvious LOD changes. yeah, I know this is a mush but you could try to hide it (with better camera angles maybe?) or you could give DirectX 11's tessellation features a shot. OpenGL is really great when you don't need new DX features or you are Navis maybe. ;)

mush = must
added on the 2011-01-09 04:52:51 by Skate Skate
boring, bad colors and the detail glitch mentioned by skate.

should definitly team up with some visual artists / designers next time around.
Make those LOD changes invisible... What about fading smoothly into the other LOD level (Edge split/collapse)?
added on the 2011-01-09 11:44:40 by las las
Quite nice... I assumed the details calculated on the fly, this would explain the glitch mentionned above...

Nice space trip with good old Amiga music.

I'd like a youtube-vid of this. I'm really not too fond of the music used, and it doesn't quite do the visuals justice, from the few frames, I managed to get to see, that is.
added on the 2011-01-09 20:20:53 by Punqtured Punqtured
Well, in video atm there is only the free flyby of exactly the same engine I wrote, from where I made the non-interactive demo in a rush for the party: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jsaeFph4HPQ

the camera track is really clumsy but everything else is definitely well done

impressive engine

the camera flow is a bit weird, but maybe I'm just too tired at the moment. The music is nice, but a bit too oldschool for the visuals. ;D all in all a great prod.
rulez added on the 2011-01-10 08:58:28 by nekomono nekomono
Very nice production!
The tune is played in a lower tempo than the original chippy I see/hear. It gives never the less a special, nice mood to your teaser... =)
rulez added on the 2011-01-10 11:42:20 by sim sim
Thumb up for the idea/concept.
Concerning the realisation, camera movements could be less awkward and the fly through the planets' atmosphere could last a bit longer.
Waiting for a final version.
rulez added on the 2011-01-10 16:33:21 by ok3anos ok3anos
Not too exciting, but if the camera tracking and music can be improved, maybe the final version will be a solid prod.

Imerso: do not play in such a way!!! Learn to accept other ppl criticism, or to keep you mouth closed/shut!
added on the 2011-01-11 13:10:05 by sim sim
@sim -- I'm very sorry for my last reply, I woke up at that moment, and the first thing I read was that hard critic alone on a new page. I didn't think before posting (my fault). But I accept any critics, including the negative ones, of course. Thanks.

So now make a proper demo about this.
added on the 2011-01-11 14:15:15 by AzzaroMWI AzzaroMWI
I find the tech interesting, how to seemly travel from planet to ground detail, though the LOD changes are quite visible here with small speed bounces. I like the music too. It's a nice idea.
rulez added on the 2011-01-11 15:35:53 by Optimus Optimus
This is more of a tech demo rather than what is expected from a demo nowadays: it lacks direction and design. As an engine, you know the bugs already. ;)
But thumb up for releasing, as a 64k moreover.

ohhh - what was the music used in - I know I recognise it from somewhere!!
How to (not) explain LOD ;)

Part of the music sound like the "Enchanted land" (mad max ?) one

well, not too bad not any good either! -> teaser!
doesn't run on win7 64, nvidia. video gets boring after second planet
added on the 2011-02-04 17:52:36 by provod provod
Going to the planet got very choppy an almost froze so I had to quit/alt-F4. I noticed it took a long time (a couple minutes) to start the demo on my new i7 950 quad-core system with an old, updated 32-bit Windows XP Pro. SP3 (IE6) and ATI Radeon 4870 video card (512 MB of RAM; ATI Catalyst suite v10.12).

I watched YouTube version instead. It was OK. Music was weird too.

+ Space Journey Idea
+ Horizons

- Totally unsuitable music
- Self Vote
- Your outburst at Sir
sucks added on the 2011-02-05 22:28:42 by Shockwave Shockwave
Regarding the self-vote, I was adding a comment and there were 3 options: "good", "regular" and "bad". There was not a "neutral, do not count" option. Well, being new here, I was not aware it was considered a crime to select "good" for my own little prod. But thank you all anyway, I'll remember that.
added on the 2011-03-05 14:31:21 by imerso imerso
@imerso: I guess you learnt the hard way that on Pouet people are expected not to vote for their own prod.

Anyway, more releases!
added on the 2011-04-16 11:54:47 by Zavie Zavie
If I get bored and press escape, I always give the prod a thumbs down. I am sorry. The graphics here are very nice, and do not deserve a thumbs down. It's too bad the music and camera work do not match.

good from the tech side, cool atmosphere effect, and the terrain at certain angles look good, but overall i do not like the visuals + music
