Finally,. I can see how the realtime radiosity looks!

Although why with polygons and not geometric primitives like in raytracing demos? (E.g. pure perfect spheres, culinders, e.t.c..)

It looks uglier than raytracing,. but I like the soft shadows.. (And there must be perhaps some other cool things in this new radiosity thing I haven't noticed..)

Funny were also the silly antialiased 2d lines which morphed and had nummers on them!

nothing much to say excepted that is a technically interesting demo...

In Czech - Parada, kluci jedni usati, jen tak dal.
In English - Very good stuff, music is very interesting track
this definitely is barbarz-art.
it's time for some radical action!

interesting prod, not the best use of radiosity
added on the 2001-05-10 13:10:28 by neurox neurox
very good radiosity in real time!
music is good with the whole design
the 3d scenes are too colored in front of the digitized pictures
a good prod with lot of ideas and a political message against capitalism i think

music rules, and the look of the radiosity scenes is funny

Shall we stop to call blurred gouraud "radiosity"? btw: what´s that "no mfx" written near the logo? :D
sucks added on the 2001-08-28 22:24:05 by dixan dixan
ok. stop. this may be radiosity.

you know, radiosity is radiosity and raytracing is raytracing. and the former is traditionally applied on gouraud polygons.

hmm. so there appears to be soft shadows but i haven't spotted any sure evidence of complex diffuse interaction or colour bleeding. reason for other may lie in resolution and for another that the lighting is probably calculated monochromatically.

either those, or that the algorithm is carried only one level deep or it's faked with some other shadow-algos. (but what would be the point, those are not that simple either)

Yes, well...here's me thinking that demos were all about trying to get the ultimate out of your machine, or a least *faking* it. "7800 phong polys" and "262144 colors" spring to mind =)

Fake or not, looks okay.
added on the 2001-08-29 01:15:43 by Shifter Shifter
ok, I am half convinced (tho I want to see some color emission, shadows are not enough). But what about the "no mfx"? :D
added on the 2001-08-29 11:13:20 by dixan dixan
well, "no mfx" probably means that they are no mfx. or something. bleh. 8]

Its stupid to name it "REALTIME radiosity 2" when it was more like "SLIDESHOW BLURED 2" :)

rr2 is realtime monochromatic monte-carlo radiosity powered by hi-optimized ray-shooting over BSP-trees with discontinuity mashing, clusters and gouraud interpolation... based on results from reserach in dee's diploma thesis. you see the most complex coda in demoscene production ever... dee is radiosity guru.

"no mfx" means no poor tgr3 radiosity... :-)

nobody'll beet az!
rulez added on the 2001-09-15 11:25:52 by redox redox
how impressive! until this, the most complex coda I've seen in a demoscene production was a timelapse polytronic las-vegas final gathering powered by battery-energized laser-blasting elves over LAX-woods with nonsingularity smashing lacklusters and reagan extrapolation.
added on the 2001-09-15 12:16:02 by saffron saffron
Very impressive... Where's the radiosity, anyway? It's hidden by those shitty dancing triangles? O:-)

sorry, i dont like it. Just another demo.... Poor music, some old photos and a dull 3d with "radiosity"... not enough to remember it.

ok, guyz! let's make better looking realtime "radiosity" with soft shadows and diffusion reflections... hu!

rr2 iz only kick off for another coderz. They colud make it much more beter!

broncs loves these chat ego battles! :-))
added on the 2001-10-03 14:01:50 by redox redox
FAKE!
The first was a mpeg video.
The second is precomputed. All scenes are cyclic.
If you want to prove that is a true real time radiosity, execute your algorithm on a long acyclic scene that cannot been precomputed, or on a random scene.

RR3 ?
sucks added on the 2001-11-01 03:01:26 by arthy arthy
I kind of liked this prod...

There's certainly no indications of mpeg anywhere... nor of radiosity ;) It looks like a raytracer that feeds a gouraud rasterizer. I certainly don't see any bleeding, with characterizes a radiosity illumination (and what makes look so good).

However, the prod is kind of nice
added on the 2001-11-01 03:44:28 by mac mac
Is this a prod from Broncs? Lol! I had witnessed their attitude with fake 256byte intros lately!!! And now I come back on that,.. so they are just kidding by saaying it's radiosity?? (Damn,. how radiosity would really look like?)

http://broncs.scene.cz/prodz/rr.rar is their first demo on "realtime radiosity".
In rr.dat at offset 50982 start the mpeg file.
I myself work on realtime radiosity...
"No fake"...

It was a good trial.
If this is a "real-time
radiosity", I have not seen seldom such demo until now.
anyway, Very was impressive.:)

Jesus H. Christ. It seems that all you need is a buzzword like 'radiosity' (which people don't even seem to understand) and suddenly it's 'awesome shit'.

Maybe not real realtime radiosity but close one.Nice colors, warm atmosphere. Maybe it is too early for a realtime implementation of this technique, but the emulated color bleeding looks nice!!

the way i see it, the only really bad thing about this demo is its name. calling it after the effect reduces it unnecessarily. i actually dig the design of the other parts, especially the retro pics. music is cool too. i doubt there is any real radiosity in there anyway... it's just colored light sources and soft shadows - but well done at any rate.

Interesting music and different look (previous C-64 people?), but the radiosity just didn't show, looks more like fake use of lights + weird rendering noise.

Still, has that little something to it.

The radiosity(?) engine is rather cool and would receive thumbs up if the rest of the intro was up to par, but even though I'm enthusiastic about putting political content into demos, it didn't fit in at all and looked like crap. So piggie.
added on the 2004-09-20 23:33:05 by Preacher Preacher
One nice scene (on the screenshot), few nice gfx's (ie. the end credits), not-so-amazings soundtrack and the effect, well... I'm not so convinced that it is for real and not a trick. Guess that's the problem.
Nothing impressive, some flaws. Especially the low resolution bugged me. The art didn't fit for the resolution, would have looked a lot better if doubled to 640x480. Not a bad demo, though. Has much potential in it. I liked - and I agree (to) - the announcement you gave.
