Entangled

Entangled, a 4k executable graphics entry
Released at Revision 2026

This release is a bit of an experiment.
I wanted to create a 4k gfx entry but didn't
want to do some last minute party coding
this time. On the other hand I'm very much
used to working with the appropriate tooling
on demoscene releases, I just didn't have
the time to build an sdf editor from scratch
So at this time and age what is one to do?
As an experiment I had codex build an sdf
editor for me. (Before you come with the
pitchforks I cleared it with the orgas that
since I'm using ai for tooling and not the
content or inspiration this doesn't go
against the compo rules)
It was an interesting experience and mostly
consisted of me telling the ai which github
repos to use as the scaffolding for the
editor. It's based on imgui, using imguizmo
for the 3d editor gizmos and the nodeeditor
and hg_sdf as the sdf library. Once the
editor was working an exporter was created
that uses Blossom as the target framework.
The result is a semi-usable tool that is not
something I'd ever release because it's
basically all slop but on the other hand
gave very good insight into how one should
actually go about building a proper 4k gfx
editor.

The image itself was fully manually authored
in this sdf editor with no ai assistance or
inspiration, using a frame from Baginski's
Katedra as a point of reference.

I fully understand that the use of ai is a
prickly topic on the scene but if the
conversations we're having en route to the
party are any indication it's clear that at
least for coding, people are using it. It's
a tool and we as a scene need to figure out
the rules of using these tools in a way that
is compatible with the scene spirit.

What I learned is that even the use of an ai
to create tooling won't help you unless you
know what you want to do and how it should
work. On the other hand the 4k gfx compo may
soon not need any coders at all.
I intend to build and release the 4k gfx
editor properly at one point. Not sure when.
Sooooo many other projects to do.
