Wild scene records.

category: general [glöplog]

* Which is the most delayed demo ever.
I can think of CPC, DemoIzArt (9+ years I'd say) but there must be some more delayed in AtariST or other platforms? I really want to know..

* Which is the demo with the most series
Coma light here with 13 series, but is there another one with more?

* Which is the biggest demo ever? (Zipped, unzipped)

* Who is the oldest scener ever?
- oldest in age (I can think of Marabu in CPC scene, who's children are also sceners, but I don't know his age)
- oldest in years of activity (Someone told me about a guy nicknamed Irata but can you verify?)

* The biggest demoparty ever in
- number of visitors
- and number of real sceners

* Can you think of other scene records possible?

Coma light has more, counting the 4.5, 9 and a bit and sqr(71). The 13 was in Amiga.

On C64 there's Censor's Wonderland and on PC there's iso's jmagic on kiva which has more than 70 parts.

Stupid question since demos are about small sizes. Anyway, if you count Futuremark or ATI's and nVidea's techdemos than you know where to search for.

TG, DH and ASM claim that fact on a regulary base for themselves.

From my previous two answers you should've noticed that this kind of questions are rather boring.
"demos are about small sizes"

muhahaha, since when ? :)

how about a new category, longest demo ?

I nominate odyssey/ alcatraz :D

Optimus' book of world... i mean scene records :)

Here's some new categories:
- number of compos some demo has been entried to (rob is jarig, i bet)
- highest number of releases (ISO!)
- oldest demogroup that is still active (Fairlight is pretty old at least)

And of course, there should be technology-records too, like:
- Highest number of polygons in a single scene

... and naturally, you should review these records every year and release a book with pictures and stuff!

Oswald: yeah, Odyssey instantly popped into my mind :)
How long did it last by the way? I remember it was quite insane and boring in the end, despite the huge work involved.

Actually, Lost Vegas by threestate was shown before PTCT during the compo :)
45 minutes for longest demo? I bet that figure doesn't include time taken to sit through all scrolltexts :-)

I'm going for First Association. I bet that would come close to 45 minutes even if you keep skipping to the next part at the earliest opportunity.

Fractals has a very long and slow unskippable scroller that bored me to death watching it in an emulator at 1000% speed.

Longest precalc, anyone?

First HWaccel demo: Bleam

Definately not, Bleam was released on Asm '98 while there had already been accelerated demo compos at TG'98 and Takeover'98 and probably other parties as well.

I think Nature by Vertigo which was released in 1997 was one of the first. I also recall some american 3dfx demo from '97 (I think it was Gooroo who released that one but can't remember the exact name of the demo)

And let me nominate "Jesus on E's" for most overrated demo ever :-)
added on the 2006-01-26 20:50:07 by sparcus sparcus
because the name is so cool. right? I've never seen it, tho.
The largest demo that I know of was 58megs - but I think there are larger ones than that. :)

jesus on e's is the best ravedemo ever :P
If ravedemos are supposed to be fucking boring then I suppose you're right :-)
added on the 2006-01-26 21:20:19 by sparcus sparcus
Since we're discussing Jesus on E's, the greatest Rave demo ever, also sparcus' favorite demo...

One of the followups to that demo, there were 2, Satan on Speed and another one called Deep Lard 7, is actually ... um we stopped counting how many years late it is now.

Yes I'll finish it someday.
Jesus on E's -> best Amiga demo ever.
