Front 242

Klinik and later on Dive : taught Suicide Commando everything he knows

Suicide: taught Dive most things he knows

Le Syndicat: so underrated

Skinny Puppy: some think this band commercialised early industrial like Gristle and paved the way for money grubbers such as NIN and FLA. I say fuck that. they were innovative to begin with, and the depth of their material (Last Rights, for instance) is unparalleled.

Test Dept: started to suck after a few albums

SPK: just love these nasty soundscapes. Unlike Test Dept they quit at the right time.

Neubauten: didn't have the wisdom of SPK and continued to make crap on and on. dismiss everything but their first 3 albums.

Coil, Gristle: legendary, don't play em too often, though

Whitehouse: gave best performance i ever saw.

DAF: for their hits

Laibach: almost everything

ISN, Karmanik (BDN), most Cold Meat stuff

Current 93: for people who have a fetish for acoustic instruments

Wave/Goth: Joy Division, Siouxie, Alien Sex Fiend, Sisters of Mercy, Fields of the Nephilim, Type-O.. this genre is quite dead, though </irony>

modern technoid/soundscape stuff: winterkaelte, syth-etik, 55_5F, imminent, celluloid_mata/cellautomata, synapscape, ebola

futurepop/modern EBM: can't stand it. only fit for dancing.

I like Laibach, VNV Nation, Apoptygma Berzerk, Blutengel, Terminal Choice, Wumpscut, Flesh Field, Assemblage 23 and some other stuff. Some Finnish bands like Kuroshio Current and Älymystö are rather nice too. One band people never mention is Negative Format, which is a shame because they rock. I'm fairly sure you'd like them.

Someone mentioned Venetian Snares and I agree that it's great, but I don't know how related it is to this thread. Give it a try anyway.

Or try the "venetian snares" generator, also known as Glitch vst.
You'll go way off this thread tho ;)

dixan: vsnares aint glitch you cunt. he actually uses drumkits for the mess ;)

unseen: yeh, breakcore might be more accurate to describe his sound.. sometimes going more gabber or idm or drillnbass..

yeh... Coil<3
also, Skinny Puppy
Amon Tobin (English)
Chris Clark (English)
Mogwai (Scottish)
Godspeed aka. Mt Mount Zion (Canadian)
Eight Frozen Modules (English)
Angina P. (very fresh Austrian Female. distinctive sound) Nautilis (American)

again, not sure if they'd sit comfortably in any of the music "categories" mentioned in the topic title but if you like dark stuff in general you might enjoy.

also enjoy a little corporate cock from time to time too, so Radiohead need to be mentioned. especially since their recent stuff is going more electronic/industrial.

jesus fuck, even in the demoscene coil is overrated.. there is no escaping them. -_-

kliper: not on category and not really that dark either for that matter O_O

oh yeh, and if you haven't heard it yet...grab a copy of Venetion Snare's MeatHole album. It's worth it for a track called Anguish alone! honestly, you'll cry with joy!

ps: friend of mine listens Coil a lot, so they grew on me :P
also.. The Prodigy is <3 industrial/rave ;)
maali: they're unoriginal as fuck and not marginally as dark as reviewers claim them to be. i fucking hate having checked so many of their albums just to unravel that they're all the same, hyped as fuck. they could actually be enjoyable hadnt everyone written all over the place that they own bad which they dont. :/

ps: next to that the vocals sound damn faggoty.. did someone already mention Soft Cell here or am i perhaps gay? :(
Last saturday I attended a Suicide Commando concert (yes Dalezy, K17 again :D) and one of the support bands playing was Painbastard. I didn't know them before, I quite like their music, it's heavily "inspired" by Suicide Commando though. So if you like dear Mr. Johan van Roy, you'll probably like Painbastard too. :)

that's a double-no-no. which is infact a quadruple-no. eh.
just to lighten up over the fact that you commited such a thing and to make it even, l will send my army of smelly elephants after you, in vain hope that they will suck your suicide commando-mp3 collection through their trusty beaks and get them out again in shape of a huge strawy pile of poo on your kitchen table. (you still have that kitchen table, right?)
