Pouet clone?

category: general [glöplog]
trace: when no one updates escena.org in a long while it's because the users are lame, but when no one updates pouet.net in a long while it's the moderators who are lame. hmmm.. 2+2=15

that would suggest that trace's way of argumentation is lame :P
actually i think all people who are friends of those who are makers of intro-inferno should go there. its like heaven for getting deviantart style feedback... and magic^nahkolor could also go there to open some "nice" discussions. so it rocks!

Fed up with Pouet's trolls, kids and attentionwhores? They are not on Intro-Inferno or at least they behave over there?

Don't be mistaken, if they are not over there yet or if at least they behave, it's mainly because they don't have the broad audience they have on Pouet when showing off with their stupidity.
Once Intro-Inferno reaches the minimum audience required, be sure they will start it all over again, it's only a matter of time till they all find their way and the same moronic group-wars will start all over again.

Nothing against Intro-Inferno by the way, it's a nice website. I wish it doesn't get ruined too quickly by the very same idiots showing off now and then on Pouet.

i take a short view on this site and it looks not bad... seems to be still a place without flaming idiots... a think that on "some" other places is missing but as the others said. If this one becomes bigger the idiots will also go to this place...

anyway - good luck with your project there
great initiative druid. It is 2 different kinds of sites.

And keops, you have been in the game for a long time, have you forgot that the original scene spirit was all out war. Todays scene has little to do with what the scene was, but i dont view that as a bad thing.

What's said keops and will add that "it's the internet". It could be worst.
Also that pouet degree of liberty and tolerance got it's charm.
Who are these idiots you talk of?

what about moving the entire pouet db on wikipedia?

rmeht: analogue was talking about that actually.. turning it into a wiki thing..

I hope not. User comments are 75% of the fun and how would they fit into a wiki?
added on the 2006-10-29 00:33:27 by Sverker Sverker
rather a demoscene wiki would be neat. not just a collection of prods but an information source on history on demoscene and demomaking. a collection of coding, music, gfx, design tutorials maybe. that would be great if they existed for many platforms. in fact a no prod wiki sounds better.
anes: It's in the works.

Francis P.Yockey: you have a point there, however "back in those days", group wars were at least a little bit interesting, being done through prods or fucktros, which required more work than just moronic posts, fake accounts or flames on some forums.

But hey, you can't blame people, it's so much easier to write crap on internet instead of actually producing and releasing something to make a point.

Last but not least, most people are just never happy with what you give them: "I expected more from XXXXX", "This prod is not up to your usual standards, fuck off" etc... This goes for prods and for Pouet itself as well, regardless of any feature Analogue and PS could add.

Anyway, Pouet accounts can be customized to ignore BBS threads or to hide comments on prods, I suggest that people make use of those features and enjoy the good aspects of such a huge demoscene portal, into which a lot of people put a lot of effort :)

intro inferno is so lame that not even the trolls bother to visit

remove all intros from pouet and rename it to demo-inferno.com

It's unbelieveable that I've never seen Intro-Inferno until this month. Despite having some shortcomings - too small font, prodtype / platform lacks, poor search engine, stretched screenshots etc. - it's really good site. People who said it's bad must be truly unfriendly or just stupid. How many good sites like pouet.net or 256b.com we have, with multitude of prods, comments, discussions? It's a great idea with Intro-Inferno I think, I hope it will become better in near future.

And if you don't like this "clone" - simply don't visit it, watch the other ones.

"Despite having some shortcomings - too small font, prodtype / platform lacks, poor search engine, stretched screenshots etc. - it's really good site"

What exactly is good about it?

Only reason why i can see someone wants to make a pouet-clone with moderation is because they release crap and dont like the responses they get on pouet. Intro inferno seems to be made by just such a lamers.

On a sidenote, all communities start out friendly and couzy then they ends out with hard moderation and a rather booring community or anarchy wich rocks on forever until the powercable is plugged out (r.i.p. flipcode).

true that keops. Well its the plague of the internets. The it-is-my-birthright-to-be-entertained-by-others-generation

its is like everybody expects every production to be a hardwired or mental hangover e.g the scene was never like that. Most of it was beating someones record and then call him a bitch at the same time in the scroller.

Which is altso why i have followed the titan quagmire with some amusement. If there has been drama on the bbs i havent payed attention to it, i must admit.

and yes, another one,....you're such a bad coder (come on, admit it, it's wellknown...), intro-inferno should be the perfect place for your lame buggy code, no?

Francis: I think you're completely wrong. The internet is filling up (!) with self-made crap. (YouTube/deviantArt/blogs/etc...)
Hardly people just wishing to be entertained by others.
