what is this ? http://intel.de/demoscene/

category: general [glöplog]
what i honestly hope is that this is a precedent for further compos where demogroups receive free hardware for making demos. that would be kindof cool.

Gargaj > yeah a gorgeous geforce go 7300 :))))
It's great. I think it's great too to see the best groups around involved in that, since they are the great ones being able to represent the demoscene out there. But i must admit i'm kinda jealous (yes :), because limiting that compo to only the best groups around doesnt give any chance to the little ones. I'm not talking about Titan only, since the day when we'll be able to make such great shit is something like in 500 years, but still, there are plenty of other groups who could have participated to that compo. Who knows, maybe in the future :).

I think that demos are suposed to run fast on a medium machine (my laptop!). That is 1.6Ghz, 512Mb, ATI with PS2.0 (yes, I'm talking about candela!). Maybe I'm too oldschool, too.

you prolly didnt notice the big turd by tmb on the previous page?
"only 5 teams" etc.
wich makes me wonder if there will be a "rob is jaarig" in the compo. if not i tend to think it will suck.

btw: i had talks to quiet a lot of talk with intel-guys at parties over the last couple of years. neither of them could answer my questions. :(

"what's your nick ?"
"what is bass ?"
"hallo ?"

;)
if they wouldve gone out and asked people to contrib. nobody wouldve responded. by making it "elite" some kids thought they could get some "status" at some large inc and went straight to work. excellent idea by intel i must say.

you really think it was intel's idea? magic, you don't know how much work this is, to make sure corporations appear they have ideas you suggested in their ears.

I think the exact opposite would have happened. Everyone who'd have been asked would have jumped at the opportunity. I've seen it happen before :)

Was NOT made by the real magic
but by Pouet user 182 (put the mousepointer on his name to see this)

He is a fake!

As abductee said... a compo without fun entries, nonsense releases and the obligatory "rob is jaarig" is crap. It would have been OK if the selected groups ahd really showed off, but they should they in such a fameless compo?

BTW... most of its entries run quite sloppy on my intel ;)

Well I think it was a great idea with some wonderful entries which represented the demoscene well to what might turn out to be a much wider audience. For me 30s is a limitation like any other : useful to increase creativity and competition. Some of the teams adapted well, some not so much. It was great to see the skills of some of the very best teams in one competition. I agree though, Plastic should have been included.

Great job all involved.
