As long as you don't end up programming games I guess you've got all the reasons in the world to be happy.

i became a millionaire already, i wont buy pouet and i dont care about pouet at all

btw, i studied cs. i was a game programmer when game programmers were rare and companies would pay you a king's ransome + bonuses to work for them.

nowadays, they have phd's in frigging "Game Design" at local universities. the market's becoming more and more saturated with these talentless little graduates which is driving down wages in the industry.

forget a career in video games, you'd probably earn more packing boxes in some warehouse

must be in some really crappy currency then...
Spock, I did 5 years of computer engineering and it was the most stupid waste of time of my life. Also, game-coding is boring as hell. It may be fun when done for hobby, but when you are working in a big team and you do only a very little part of the videogame, so you do only what others tell you to do... it is not much different from coding anything else.
Computer engineering has also a very big problem. You probably won't ever do what you have been learning for years, because you won't be designing chips for example. Well, there is a possibility, but too little. So, you will probably get a job as coder. And being coder is not the job an engineer should want to be since it is a simple task compared to what engineering is supposed to be. So it is easy to make you think you are loosing your time while taking that studies.
Also, it is not a beatiful study. You learn maths, but too simple maths. Also you learn a bit of coding (but nothing you can learn by yourself in just few months), you learn a bit of chip design (but not enough to be useful, and also nothing you can learn by yourself in few weeks), you may learn a bit of databases, wich is probably the most useful thing you will learn... but databases are simple enough to be learn in a week to the level of university. Also you may learn some really interesant languages such as prolog, that for sure is what you have always wanted. Also you may get some classes of AI, but the level is too low... maybe 2 weeks of fun, nothing more. So well, finally you pack all the classes, and it is less than a year of what you can learn by yourself. And learning by yourself you will do it better for sure.
In the computer engineering school, you will also find a lot of stupid teachers. And also much more stupid student mates.

Some studies, like medicine are absolutely needed. You can't surgery without the practices you do in the university, for example. And a medicine student, may work in the job has been learning years. But very different from computer engineering, were you study 4 shits and you don't have any concrete job to do.

And also, it is so sad to see too many stupid guys with their computer engineering title in the hand and being plain assholes.

It's a fucking waste of time.

I really really advice you to get into any study where there are mayority of girls.

Thanks for this advice, seven years too late :(
texel: Dont worry, its still useful for other people.

btw.. I never took up computer science.... phew..

I really like Electronics Enginiering. But I also really like girls... I think. I really like one and it didn't get me anywhere. I hope I'll have enough money to go to breakpoint every year and ...stuff.

nitro2k01: Computer Science... it's electronics for dummies. :D

I hear a lot of this complaining every day from people who expect the world handed to them once they finish a CS degree. The 90s are over and being skilled at CS related matters isn't so exceptional anymore. Don't tell me this came as a surprise to anyone.

"Every day" is exaggerated, obviously. ;)

You're either young or just plain nuts. Given your track record, you confuse and baffle me right now if it comes to a swift conclusion :)

I studied maths and I'm still studying maths part time whilst working full time as a coder. The course itself is depleted of girls though the college has a decent bar etc so picking up girls is easy. Jumping 3 rides at once is the hard part (second to maths assigments).
