Is it bad and frowned upon...

category: general [glöplog]
JSYK the rating on Pouet is in the range [ -1 ; 1 ], so a piggy is completely neutral.

People are more used to ratings in a range [ 0 ; n ], that's why it might feel biased.

The formula for the rating on pouët is r=(ups-downs)/(ups+downs+piggies)
Which means that prod with one thumbup and 999 piggies will get a rank of .001, which is a clear bias towards 0 (Or equivalent to 50 % if you may) But it's completely wrong to say that the poor piggie is a "non-vote"

jsyk.

nitrok2k01: Call that a bias if you wish but until there is a n/a item in the rating form, the piggy will remain the de-facto non-vote as users can turn it into a thumb when they want and it can not change the sign of the overall rating.
