Scene.org uploads slowing down...!???! Go and help... !!

category: general [glöplog]

Well, is it just me or why is it that there aren't any complete party-release uploads anymore at the good old
scene.org FTP lately ???!?

e.g. there are still not enough release-uploads for ALTPARTY 04 yet there...as well as not ONE single
upload from the textmode party...
It seems that releases are posted here at pouet.net better and faster than being uploaded to the scene.org
ftp for sceners to have the chance to download all latest releases from _one_ single source and not
having to check out every single release-page at pouet here for a specific download-link from aynwhere in the web! :-(

So my suggestion is:
SPREAD OUT ALL YOU SCENERS HERE and support *YOUR* best demo-download-source again with simply
helping to UPLOAD all new releases to the scene.org ftp again !!!

Don't let ftp.scene.org going down cause of no more scene-support of release-uploads !!!

Thanks for reading and helping again in future...

Bye,
Weasel

erhm, isn't it tradition that the party-releases gets spread by the party organizers?
as much as the given value for "are danish bypass releases flat-shaded?" is "true!".

i agree with you Weasel
but i'm not agree about : ""not
having to check out every single release-page at pouet""
we review prods to help people downloading only the good prods and dont waste their time taking the craps. i check every pouet prod sheet to DL only the best because i think it's more easy and useful.
so, what it the interest to full the HD of scene.org with crap ? UL only the 75% best ones can be ok.
Zone:
Sorry, probably I wrote a bit misunderstandable there...
Of course I definitely like sites like pouet.net or similar! And there MUST be such sites for the sceners because of the reasons you already mentioned....

What i wanted to say more precise was that I would need to check every pouet-page here to be able to DOWNLOAD the releases then and/or find a working download-source...instead of having the chance of going to scener.org (as normal) getting to the party-directory and downloading all those releases you think for yourself are worth it. (or better after checking out the appropriate pouet.net of the prod before! ;-))) )

Rasmus:
Of course it _should_ be tradition that the party organizers are uploading the releases in total! But as you can see several times in the past they aren't keeping up to their tradition it seems... ;-)
Therefore we *all* should jump in then and help 'tehm' out to keep scene.org updated... Shouldn't we? ;-)

Hi folks, first thank you for your support on keeping the releases flowing into scene.org. Unfortunately we've had to throttle down in the last few months due to disk space problems. Fortunately this will not be the case for much longer as a brand spanking disk is due to go in.

scene.org normally gets party releases direct from the party organisers and indeed we have agreements with a lot of them to provide quickest possible turnover rate for releases.

Unfortunately sometimes the bottleneck is our fault as processing the /upload directory takes "a while"... :-)

Best possible turnover time can be achived when the organisers contact the FTP administrators before hand at ftp@scene.org and agree on a release plan. That way the FTP admins know what's coming and can clear the way before hand for releases to flow into the archive.

In the past we have contacted the party organisers ourselves -- but in recent years time has not allowed us to do so.

We will do our best effort to keep up though and any help here is indeed most welcome.
