I'm losing interest in this bbs. I wonder how many would be members are scared off by the flaming, trolling, bigotry, and off-topic posts? The only decent threads are Fix Me Beautiful and the Random Image Thread.

What is a demo? It's real-time rendering. Why in the world would anybody be interested in that? Don't digital artists have better things to do than digital art? Perhaps I've found the reason the demoscene isn't popular in America. Compared to most people here, Americans are humble, compassionate, and TOLERANT. I've gone out of my way to be nice to people, and only a few people have treated me with respect. I posted some "offensive" things, but you forget that I am certainly not the only pedo here.
I'm guessing that blacks aren't tolerated here either. I've lost count of how many times I've seen the word "nigga" on this bbs.
Americans humble? Don't make me laugh. While some individuals may fit that description (s_tec being one of them) the US is *easily* the most arrogant country on the planet.
I can totally agree with Thom the people here in the usa are not only arrogant they are conceited.

stereohawk, this bbs is not really a place for serious discussions in the scene. It's more of a stage. The way one communicates in the scene is via demos.. and face to face communication. All the rest is more or less just another kind of hobby, a way of passing time.
Diskmags are a more faithful way to communicate knowledge, you might want to download a bunch of them including old ones. The content is often very weak, but a bit more inspirational than here.
But one thing I think you should understand: the scene does not function via specific tools, even if some people have invariably made others believe that. You are supposed to find your own methods with your own tools and make the medium your own.
Making demos is irrational. It's only possible if you have the passion and the energy. One may think of demos
as a way instead of an end, those never last long.

Maybe you should visit a demoparty (like, say, Breakpoint 2007) instead of making a judgment about the demoscene by the jokesters you see in Pouet...
