Did anyone recorded the 'Chiptune' Special on Arte?

it was good, imho. Did anyone recorded it, and could make a divx version?

I didn't really get the kylie minogue part

well. in this song from 'kylie minogue' there were some parts that sound like chiptune. That´s all. And last time i watch mtv i saw an original USA hip hop video (big tits, pool party, chicks and stuff like that) with c64 sounds. that was very funny.

chandra/ojuice was supposed to record it, ask him.

i recorded it. but to be honest, it sucked ass.

they were shortly at the state of the art, let flapjack, xxx and el mobo say 2 words and went on to the unfunny teamtendo fluffy bunnies .. the background info sucked too.

i found it not bad at all... it simply showed how a demoparty looks like. And the main topic was "chiptunes", not "demoscene".

yeah I guess ... though (not their fault) those last featured artist's gigs looked quite pathetic

yep guys, hard to picture the whole chiptune scene in a 10mn report, anyway. I liked the shots from Rob Hubbard and the SOTA party (that's more in the chiptune state of mind), and nearly had an heart attack seeing Kylie associated withe chiptune world :-). But gee... she's certainly much more cute than the ugly boys we saw at the end of the report ;-) Well, it's better than nothing, so I'd thanxx Arte anyway.

i think this is something about that:

thank arte? haha. sorry.
some background info for you guys is coming up.

i had a gig in 2001 and arte was going to film me (well, us, since there were more artist playing out that evening). we were like happy, since that would mean more promotion for us and whatnot. so they came in later that evening, in the already flooded club, people had to go outside because their camera and the filming people had to fit in.
we were just doing our thing, they did certain shots for like 4-5 times (like entering the door had to be probed 3 times), so that everything looks perfect (and not normal).

once that evening was done, we were waiting for arte to play the show - and guess what they did? they seriously fucked up their actual promise, disfaced the whole thing and did a report about how to get free food and drinks in clubs.

so much for arte.

Yo guys,
I agree with most of what you've posted here : Arte's report does not depict what you'd've like to hear or see - truth -, and some of you may even have encountered sad experiences with them...
I don't want to defend Arte. I don't want to defend the whole system. I piss on consumer society, and I think that mass media generally fuck up any undergroung brillant things (artwork, information, and so forth).
It's not the first time that a media talks about stuffs, related to demo scene, and each time, it's always the same : they fucked up the deal. It's how media works, u know it, don't be astonished for that...
I even remember (sorry for bothering you with my memories) many interviews I gave to French Press media, at the old shool time, for Joystick, Gen4 or Tilt mags : always the same... when you read the final article, you can't help thinking about what the journalist understood - well, did I spoke Alien or what ? -
Yes, it could have been much better.
Yes, it shows that we all would like they talk about us, our work, our scenes, in a much more honorable way, ... but in a ten minutes report on chiptunes, what did you expect ? That's the reason why I'm still happy : I could see the face of Rob, some shots of SOTA demoparty, and some chip sounds (which is always a pleausre to hear) ;-) Well, in a word, I tried to think positive... And, anyhow, it's up to us to defend the image we went to spread, to broadcast. Don'y you think so ?
Best regards,
Jess.
agree with jess from OVR.
Arte is also 10 times better than "Giga TV" on NBC. but not better than 3Sat.

bah. TV reports are funny, nothing more.

Let's hope that the RTBF (Belgium TV) will do a better job than Arte.

They seriously mixed up between DJ's using chip sounds and demo scène in general. Well, at least I'm happy because our lovely Orics have been seen on TV, quite a nice 20years happy birthday for these machines :))

Funny also was the moment when they talked about the C64 that revolutionarize the wolrd of 8bit machines, while simultaneously showing a crappy Thomson TO7 machine !!!

Favorite cite (as good as i can remember):
"guys standing behind their laptops making music look like shit"
said by one of the ugliest musicians i've ever seen (beside mick jagger that is ;)

of course nobody could have expected an evening long thema about chiptunes but at last they could have tell the truth!

you don't know how much time trez and I spent explaining the arte folks the ins and outs of demoscene and chiptunes (both technically and artistically), the difference between the chips, the styles, etc... the difference between hardcore sceners and electro artists using a gameboy... but it obviously didn't make it to the final cut...

dbug : i still have no information about when this report will be broadcast if only it is some day...

hopper : you're kinda right, the show of this guy wasn't connected to chiptunes in anyway and was just bad... and really painfull to hear at 4am. we had fun playing at that micromusic party but the live were not that exciting (gwem being without any kind of doubt the worst).

bla bla, old thread. Anyway. The video and (more important) the information:
There's another Chip Music Compo, you should support it.
