I was just checking propellerheads site and, check this out:

"
The songs in the Propellerhead Software Song Archive is music from the Reason user community. They are free to download and play, but each songs remains the intellectual property of their creator.

This means that the music available here may not be redistributed or reused in any form without permission from the track's creator.

About remixing
Downloading a track and remixing it has become common practice and most people think that that is not only ok, they even encourage people to remix their songs. Some people are not as enthusiastic, so before you do a remix, please check with the original creator to see if it's ok to remix the track.
"

I think it fits well with what happened...
(just posted because I found this interesting)

Well, Propellerheads and the demoscene are not quite on the same level, but Scene.org has this in their FAQ (emphasis mine):
Quote:

The International Scene Organization only has distribution rights of the works contained in its archive.

None of the works (songs, demos, graphics, videos) present on our archives are in the public domain. As such you need to contact yourself the respective authors to ask them specifically if they are willing to let you exploit their work commercially.

To do so we suggest you either read the contact info if present in the ftp directory, or from the archives and accompanying text files.

We know it can prove difficult sometimes to locate the copyright holders from the handles they leave with their file. You are then advised to try to reach them through the email addresses contained in readme files, or search their handle in http://ojuice.net's database.

I have no idea who made this, but if you just suffer through the first thirty seconds or so it's actually pretty good (if you just listen to the tune and ignore the horrible demo/anim-rips going on in the video :)

ojuice.net is dead, so maybe that disclaimer needs a fix :D
we should be having a timbalandvstempest democompo. deadline for entries, when timbaland speaks up in defense :)

That's a weird (=not Finnish) way of pronouncing Janne Suni.

Piru : I did post on that forum also. I have noticed the BIG difference on various forums, regarding the replies or people bothering to read it etc. Some people "get it" while others put their head in sand and just like making rude or crude comments. I've posted on some forums and got very little response, the "it doesn't affect them, so not bothered" attitude is not so good.

Evil : As a registered reason user I did have a look at the official registered users forums, no ones mentioned it, last post was 2003 about how 'great' they are. As with the demo scene, reason itself does have a "community" feel. A LOT of people including commercial refill (sample library) makers that I know etc. are all aware of this situation, . One commented to me, if I didn't buy the guys sample cd's / dvd's, they would not be able to pay rent.

gloom : I always used to hated metal tunes in demos , I find some of the things released are supposed to help janne/grg BUT they are un subtly promoting things.

ps: I'm guessing the public won't hear a word, as it could be seen as something else. Is normally how it works.

GENERALLY people are advised by legal teams. this picture sums it up aptly..

old64scener: it would be out of own sheer creative entertainment. not a quest to solve things :)

@havoc, see, when you take it out of context, it doesn't work. (Or does in another way that makes me look quite the xenophobe.)
