shash: They got lost due to corrupted DV tapes, and the recovery works on those didn't work out :(

The recording team is trying to improve its procedures for this year, so hopefully we won't lose any coverage this time.

makc: We don't need such estimates. Have a look at last years shuttle page to understand the system - it's a two-step process. First everyone gives their arrival time, and then we'll organize bus trips fitting to those and move registrations into those. Registration will be launched at the end of this week.

If possible, put up an extra bus going back to Hahn on the 9th. Last year a bunch of us taking the bus from Hahn to BP didnt get a ride back. Buses were full :/
One should assume that the number of people taking the bus to BP, will take the buss back aswell.

But I guess it was abit my own fault, should have bought the ticket sooner.

tft: Only explanation for that would be that someone who was assigned to one of the previous busses simply instead entered yours, taking your seat.

Guess we'll this time print the bus number on the tickets and make sure nobody is using someone elses bus...

@scamp :
It would be fine if you provide the Breakpoint logo in several formats ( Bitmap & Vector ) to the demomakers, so they can use it for their productions in clean mode ;)

Sorry to break the topic , it was just a actual problem a few days ago :)

cant you draw it yourself? it's like 5 minutes work... ffs
_H2o_: "Using partylogos in productions that aren't invitations" = CANCER
h20: see slummy ;)

Other than that: You can always mail breakpoint07@untergrund.net in case for whatever prod you are planning the logo would be really needed. But we really need to know what it will be used in, because for obvious reasons we don't want things we don't have influence in to look like an "official breakpoint statement" yaddayadda. Just mail us ;)

i found only c64 demo compo in the rules. how should i submit a zx spectrum demo?
added on the 2007-02-23 13:27:30 by elfh elfh
I'd say: see "real- wild/console"

I'm happy to bring a Speccy to BP and volunteer as ZX Spectrum representative / compo co-organiser / whatever, and to generally support the ZX scene in whatever way that will get ZX demos into compos there (well, provided it doesn't require me to be at the partyplace 3 days in advance or anything silly like that)...

Personally I'm in favour of the remaining C64 compos being opened up to all 8-bits like the music compo has been, and I'd be fiercely lobbying for that if I could be sure that it would translate into actual compo entries (cp. the PPC Amiga 'debate'). But for now, assuming the BP organisers can't be persuaded to have a change of heart overnight (hey, I can hope...) then yes, a ZX demo would go in the Real Wild / Console compo. This year.

However, I notice this line in the rules:
Quote:
If you submit something, you have to be present at the party. No exceptions!

Perhaps one of the orgas could clarify - does this allow me to submit a demo on Elfh's behalf? (I'm assuming you won't be attending Breakpoint yourself, elfh...)
added on the 2007-02-23 17:47:25 by gasman gasman
gasman:

elfh is planning to attend BP, at least we sent him a Visa invitation.

Besides that: The usual workaround if you can't hand in your entry personally is to give it to another groupmember of yours who is present.

And please don't call the requirement of organzers being present on the location 3 days prior to the party "silly". It's quite offending for the 40+ organizers who do this to create Breakpoint for you. Statements like this easily may result in a "fuck you"-response from our side.

For official compos for a platform to exist, there needs to be demand, and someone involved with that platform needs to become an official organizer, including all responsibilities and pre-work this includes.

You are always free to create unofficial compos and organize them yourself at Breakpoint, and we'll do our best to support you, but those clearly will be unofficial - you have to do all the work, we don't give out prizes, if you screw up the compo everyone will only point their fingers at you etc.

For speccy demos I second dodge - the "real wild" compo is an excellent choice for a speccy demo.

But it is silly! Abso-fucking-lutely bonkers! Only an utter madman would devote so much unpaid time and effort towards a project like that just because they're passionate about it, all for the sake of a bunch of drunk people who are just going to end up complaining about stuff. Damn right it's silly. And you know what? We all love you for it.

Okay, that was the lamest backpedal ever. I'll stop digging.

Cool that elfh can make it... I'll still gladly bring my Speccy anyhow, on the basis that it's probably easier to get one from the UK to BP than from Russia. And if there ever is serious demand from the ZX scene, I promise to seriously consider becoming an organiser, including (gulp) the three-days-of-setting-up thing...

elfh is coming?! ace!!

yeah. me and my girlfriend natasha will visit bp this year. i hope. i am interested, what do you need to allow zx spectrum entries into c64 democompo and call it a 'democompo for an oldschool platform'? if gasman bring speccy, we'll need just to run files on it. do you show demos from real hardwire, or using a video capture? i can provide video myself. if you allow other machines this year, maybe next time you'll have more releases in this category. anyway i'll be happy to participate at any compo and be presented at the party! hope to see everyone soon!
