Breakpoint 2007

category: general [glöplog]
blue: i want to get my party decoration get in for free :-)

no, seriously: for me and my gf it's an increase of 200% (40€ -> 120€), and since we are both students we have to reconsider coming to breakpoint.. :-(
(^^scamp, is this a case for this social-ticket deal?)

btw "due to popular demand" you canceled the free girls entrace? i always thought it was kind of a scene tradition that girls get in for free..

Scamp: I'm in aswell - too bad you didn't settle for some kind of donation-arrangement also.

Thank you for keeping Breakpoint alive, even when you have to make tough decisions.

Location rental 5%

only 5% goes toward renting the hall? that's very generous of them, especially seeing that the tables and chairs alone cost more!

v3nom: if your girlfriend can't afford to pay, or just doesn't want to pay, here's an idea - leave her home. you can live without her for four days, after all you're a demoscener, yes? but, if most of your money really is going toward school costs, then you could, in all fairness, request the discounted ticket, yes.

oh, and it's scene tradition to swap files by floppy disks in the mail too, don't forget that. :P

v3nomsoup: Actually the entrance fee has been 45 Euros for the last two years, not 40. Regarding the social ticket: Follow the instructions for that on the website please, this doesn't belong into the public.

Regarding popular demand: See the post by blue in this thread (5 posts up or so). That's the feedback we got from most female sceners during the last month, and the feedback from male sceners backs this up.

phoenix: Tables+chairs cost more, yes - we get those delivered from the netherlands, as there is no table/chair rental service in Germany that would have that many in stock. That's what you get for renting a sports hall - it's quite cheap compared to a congress hall, but unlike the latter it doesn't feature chairs, tables or a carpet ;)

Puryx: If the entrance fee makes it impossible for you to join Breakpoint, apply for the social ticket.

just a thought... one way to cut some rental costs might be to use market stalls instead of tables. i don't know about german towns, but here in holland nearly every town or village has a couple of hundred stalls in stock which they use only 1 day/week, and certainly not in the weekends. :)

Scamp: nono - I'm satisfied with paying 60 euros!

But I even might have considered donating extra euros if you made some kind of donation/vip setup. Also I'm bringing you a bus full of danes to ensure the ticket income of Breakpoint;)

I still find the entrance fee very acceptable for such a great event, compare it to commercial events and it's still not expensive. And about the free entrance for girls. I think it's very reasonable to have everybody pay for the entrance fee right? Free entrance for girls is SOO 1995.

Well, maybe it was in Germany but here in the Netherlands girls have been paying the full entrance fee for parties since about '97.

I'm happy to pay €60. I'm happy to travel for 9 hours across 5 countries to get to Breakpoint. What I'm not happy about is the distinct lack of dancing girls. Bring forth the scantily clad dancing girls, scamp! =)

i have to admit, watching chubby young men from the northern part of the world hunting eachother around a polished pole would be something that i'd hardly would want to miss.

Ok, as I'm in a hurry organizing stuff, I'll simply copy&paste the most important news in here:

Seminars at Breakpoint

We'll again have a wide range of interesting seminars at Breakpoint.
While most seminars are focused on the scene, we'll also have some
fun seminars - for example Hollywood director Uwe Boll will
demonstrate how he adapts computer games like "Postal" into movies.

As a special bonus, there will be a free guided tour through Bingen's
point of interest including some 'secret' ones in the underground...

Check out the seminars page:

VII. Sponsors announced

A list of sponsors is now available - it contains a lot of interesting
partners trying to support the demoscene, so go check them out. As
a special surprise for all Commodore fans: Commodore Gaming will be
attending Breakpoint as a sponsor to get in touch and discussions with
the community about the future of the Commodore brand.

What's more, two major german game companies are hiring and will
be open for interviews in a relaxed atmosphere during Breakpoint.

And finally our main sponsor, Intel, is about to reveal another nice
