Breakpoint 2007

category: general [glöplog]
my apologies to all those who actually did spend it inside coding, but he's right :D

i spent half of the time inside mimicking the coding nerd, but there was a party going on too if you happened to sit next to the loudspeakers... i liked it.
my congrats to scamp and to everyone in the orga-team, you managed to make me forget about a smaller budget and whatnot. this party was great in nearly every aspect. i enjoyed it a lot and just like the last years i count myself as a breakpoint <this year plus one> attendant...

(i really hope something will be done about the toilet situation, though)

I _never_ had to wait for the outside toilet. Maybe it's just my luck.
Breakpoint was such a great party. It was acutally my first party in 12 years, and I would love to come back next year.

My two cents on the smoking debate:
Smoking inside is soooo oldskool! Smoking inside public places has been banned in many european countries the latest years, and more are to follow this year. I'm certain that Germany will follow quite soon...

Three days of junkfood is as bad as three days of passive smoking. And according to the pictures on slengpung far more people are adversly affected by the junk food. There should be no smoking, only healthy food and a daily work out in the morning.

We never had to eat this nasty junk food because ALDI rulezzzz!

C'mon guys, there's this nice cheapo supermarket near the BP place where you can buy everything to make your own meal and your own booze.

At BP, we have showers to get clean over the 3 days, almost perfect party place (who want to go back to that lost and cold military camp uh??? NOT ME!), good food because ALDI rulezzz, cool party network, smashing beam, FR041 so stop complaining all the way.

Personally (who cares), I just can't bear smoke because of serious allergy but I will never complain of that if I decided to go to that kind of party on my own. And more than that, I am just fed up of all those laws preventing peoples to act freely. In France, we are slightly creeping to insane restraints.

I think most smokers are aware they can disturb non-smokers. It's just a matter of responsability and such restraints completely prevent ppls from being responsible.
I don't think I'll get a cancer from passive smoking more than I'll get a cancer of all those particles floating in this lovely smog over Paris...

Anyway. We got to enjoy life. And partying at BP is life actually.

am i getting old or is the junkfood getting better each year?

uncle-x: Thanks for pointing this out. I collect feedback about the foodstands each year, and pass the criticism to the food stands, and also kick out those who suck.

I think the pizza booth has been really excellent. The fries/currywurst stand has improved (and will improve again next year). The kebab/gyros stand has improved by using other meat (but still will be completely replaced with a MUCH better vendor next year as it was planned for this one) etc.

Also all food stands have to hand in their price lists prior to the party, with me correcting any kind of rip-off attempts.

So yeah, I'm putting quite some energy into this, and that's why the food quality hopefully improves from year to year...

one of the only few things missing from the foodsupport (and/or infodesk drinks, unless i completely missed something) is some non-carbonated, non-alcoholic, not-just-water drinks (eg juice)... You guys could make a fortune with granini during the mornings :-) Or is the reason these aren't sold because they bottles/cartons/cans are non-refundable?

concerning the food stands: why was the milkshake/coffee thingy-stand not allowed to hand out slush-puppy anymore? I so missed it =(
*sniff*

uncle-x: Excellent question. We'll have juice next time (and yes, the non-refundable stuff is an issue, but can be solved).

neuralnet: Because we also had a deal with an ice stand. And those fuckers left on the first day "because they had to get water" and never came back. slush-puppys will be back next year.

didn't attend bp (even) this year, but...

> some non-carbonated, non-alcoholic, not-just-water drinks

milk anyone? i mean, ok, we're not children, any prolly many
of us can't tollerate it, but milk helps a lot the day after the
booze
i\we must admit it. furthermore milk is rather cheap,
at least here in italy, and it's quite easy to stockpil...

If I actually had to pay the 3 Euros for the mini portion of noodles I'd call it a rip-off. Prices in general were okay, but some of the portions were too small considering the fact the food support people don't have to pay any fees to Breakpoint.
The food was really nice from the vans this year, i think.

The food stands were excellent. Damn! I hunger for a currywurst right now! One thing I did miss, though, is someone selling sandwiches. Sandwiches and juice next year? Sounds like a healthy alternative?

Food was indeed better. I concur with some more breakfast options instead of some breadrolls and eggmassacre deluxe (though, that did help greatly against hangovers) I found myself having a doner for breakfast on sunday and that is just not right people!

the food was a lot better. when you think back a few years ago with just one lonely currywurst van, it's one of the biggest improvements over time at bp.

Comedy option: How about funding Limp Ninja to make Gimbap on a large scale (or get some loophole in place to make us accept donations without pissing the foodstand people off too much)? Last year we could blow our BCN prize money on the ingredients but this year it came out of mine and medicine man's pockets. You germans have some prohibitively expensive seaweed :)

There's a demand, that's for sure ;)

(and kind people bringing us beer to thank for the Gimbap: thanks, you rock)

Indeed, the food was an improvement, but it would be nice if there would be a wok stand with some asian food or something like that. (with vegetables and stuff). The food would be alot healthier and it would be a nice supplement for what is already there. (Or a nice replacement for the kebab stand).

IMHO currywurst wasn't that tasty this year. They did not put curry on top of portion. Pizza slices were really great and döners were big.
