My colleagues just watched 'Harmi' and now they're sitting silently, quite deranged, thinking their computer graphics carreer over again and again...

hey the poles had the right attitude, just wrong execution some times :) but the norvegian guy's craving for attention was just pathetic.

(ah yeah and i wasn't there at the prize ceremony, but one thing still stays true, the amiga demo compo was a lot more mature than the crowd-pleaser, testosterone-oriented pc compos ;)

and I forgot, breakpoint had the best wild compo I've ever witnessed

Yea, though I think Madwizards should have won.

pros: everything I've seen so far prod wise has been far beyond my expectations - especially for a 'young party'... Hope this one becomes one of the legends! The prod's by mfx, kewlers and farb-rausch are especially nice - couldn't watch kolor's demo [i'm sure it's great] due to outdated hardware :(... more incentive to get a new comp. i guess.

cons: I wasn't there!! all i get to do is sit here and read how awesome it was, and hope someone had the foresight to chronicle the whole thing on video... and put it up somewhere :) maybe someday the wind will finally blow the way of detroit, but i'm not holding my breath.

don't forget, the madwizards guys neither puke in a too public place nor injured someone. so what's the matter...
added on the 2003-04-22 by dipswitch

.. unless you call the sleeping hall isle a too public place, of course.

not that I'm going to sink as low as to throw a bronix vs mawi compo. atleast they gave you something to rant about.

RASMUS: I am really sorry for you. One sweeping generalization
follows the another one, it's really pity that somebody can be
so narrow-minded.

I admit some of Poles were pretty annoying from time to time, yet
if you say Poland sucks because of that, well, I can only say
'go and fuck yourself'. I would never say that all Danish
are idiots because only one of them tends to insult other
people.

Weren't we funny on the stage? Perhaps at some point we became
boring, but hey, the audience seemed to have enjoyed it. Haven't
you noticed? Perhaps you were watching some p0rn on your
computer at the moment. Can you understand some people find
it senseless to travel a couple of hundreds km just to spend
most of the party-time in front of a computer screen?

Symphony - a party you'd enever recommend. Well, don't recommend something
you cannot even imagine. You don't have to come if you don't want to,
but lot of our friends will come anyway. And they will have a NICE time.

I am very sorry for all the people some of us Poles might have disturbed,
especially in the sleeping hall, but hey. Wanna sleep in silence -
get yourself a hotel room. This is a party, not a spiritual rally nor
a nun summit :)

After all, nobody got hurt and except of the noise, Poles did not make
any damages :) I agree that it was far more patheti to observe a scandinavian
being drunk like fuck and masturbating/puking/attacking others near the fire place.
Still, I can understand him. That's his way of enjoying the event. If I don't like it,
I just go the other place. Isn't it obvious?

To sum up, let's not try to mould everybody else to act like we do.
Poland doesn't suck, Denmark neither does, Rasmus' way of thinking
absolutely does :)

PS: TBL won again, but we had a far better demo and this is what counts :)

thanks to the organizers.

i would agree that some of the guys at breakpoint acted like idiots, breaking bottles and shit, but well it wasn't that bad. only, it seems a bit ironic that it was an organizer of the symphony party acting the worst :)

but well, at least he did understand the words of "shut the fuck up, and go to the campfire with that megaphone" when he (silent riot i am told his name is) was standing around screaming in the sleeping hall. so all in all i survived :)
however it wasnt as bad as earlier partys, and it was nice to see that people in general tried to calm other people down.. where i come from, a fight would have broken out over less.

i'd like to say that i had one hell of a party! apart from freezing my ass off in the sleeping hall(want to buy a pathetic sleeping bag anyone?), it all fucking rocked. good releases, lots of nice people..

and TBLs demo almost made me cry. that was perfect execution of art in its digital form. the atmosphere in magia, sets an example for all demos to follow.

on the part of certain dutch boys (hello plek and shifah :)) well then the reason for tbl not kicking your ass through your hats, is that they like a challenge, and creating something that looks good on amiga is a bit more of a challenge, than it is on pc, due to hardware limitations. i guess that they dont like to do pc programming as they do every day in their jobs?

so, quit whining, i dont hear anyone slagging gameboy.

you all rule.

kisses

nico

Well - I don't say that all poles suck - and we were not the ones shouting "Poland sucks" - I just think that Silent riot wasn't the best form of advertisment for Symphony. Thhrowing bottles at people playing soccer outside, and smashing hundres (I MEAN hundres) of bottles on the boozing meadow, probably making it a hell for the orgas to clean up doesn't impress me.
And you should really get off the stage and shut up when the compos are starting, wheter you're polish or not :) - I'm quite sure that Rasmus and the rest of the danes spent only like 10-20% of the time inside the hall (watching compos) - the real party is outside.. just don't want to swim in broken glass ;)

Oh yeah - I also disliked the norwegian guy for craving attention in a quite weird way ;)

I liked the organization of the party alot... only think is the same thing a jazz mentioned - cover tunes should really not make it into the compos - let the commercial music scene do that, as it seems they're quite good at it!
And I'm a fan of running entries live, and not taped since the quality of taped demos really isn't as good as the real thing (yes.. and as organizer myself I know it's a hell to run compos "live"! ;)

BUT.. that's very small things!!!

Amazing what a party you gus made with that location!!! I will definantly go again!

To the PC sceners that dislike the "amiga-hype": don't you think we that PC's got high framerates?.. maybe our passion is just to produce something nice on a limited computer.

Now I'll shut up :)

Yes, Breakpoint was a really great party.
Madwizards rocked the house like they already did on MS 2k+2 :)
Great organizing, great releases, great people ... a perfect party.

btw: Where can I buy nosfes CDs ???
My typing is bad

...."amiga-hype": don't you think we know that PC's got high framerates?....

was what I wanted to write ;)

nico, damn ya, I cannot really understand your definition of art as regards you assessment of tbl's demo. as far as I can see, it was damn incohesive and in no respect can be called artistic. it had some nice atmosphere and catchy-points, but after all they didn't show anything new neither specatular. it was just decent.

you'd better watch carefully our demo when the divx is out :)
added on the 2003-04-22 16:31:56 by flapmwi flapmwi
Yeah .. tbl's demo was looking more like a collection of nice scenes but didn't have any of sort of cohesion .. madwizards' demo was a lot stronger in that department.

BIG KUDOS to the organizers, really MASSIVE party!
And thanks for the Farbrausch guys for being actually happier about our victory then we ourselves :)

Voting system: You should be allowed to pick at least 5 prods, not only 3. Or even better: Every prod gets points ranging from 0 (very bad) to 9 (very good). Sounds fair to me.

Btw, greetings to the guy who asked me for toiled paper. ;)
added on the 2003-04-22 17:07:32 by tomaes tomaes
all: we'll think about updating the voting scheme, thanks for your suggestions.
plek: no way we're going to abandon public voting, sorry... :)
puryx: the compos where it was possible and made sense where shown live (that is, all graphics and pc compos and the wild entries submitted digitally).

ne superdupermegacoolprimahammerwahnsinn party war das!

jazz: i agree with all of your points, except for the theft issue. i couldn't take my TFT back home and i'm 99.99% sure the reason was theft. for details see http://breakpoint.untergrund.net/forum/read.php?f=0&i=302

Now that I am seeing the gallery I sure wish I was there :)

Perhaps I should try to come to BP2004.

ryg: i don't care ;)

and i'd also like to say that it was a very nice party.

and to flapjack: people know that madwizards often delivers quality, but your somewhat arrogant rants aren't all that funky. but then again, you're the pr guy (pun intended). stop trying to convince people of tbl's weaker points. you guys got second, so fucking what. better luck next time.

flapjack: i could write on and on, since we spent most of the 12 hours home in the bus discussion all the glorious details of the party (which, of course, mostly was positive!).
But did you ever stop and think that most of the sceners in front were applauding that you _LEFT_ the stage, not that you had _BEEN_ there. For example, i personally applaued XXX for taking the microphone away from Silent Riot (aka. Screaming Idiot) when he was commenting some bigscreen-event.

I am not about the flame the whole of Poland - and that was not my intention! My rant about the polish REPRESENTATIVES (<- that word was also in my original post!!) was because I was left with the feeling that the 2-3 polish sceners had the impression that EVERYONE at BP liked their apperance. I actually also boozed with some of you, polish guys, so it's not that i am totally disgusted by you - i just think it would be nice if you were less destructive when being around other people :-)

.. and i have to agree with flapjack on that norweigan dude - his craving for attention was absurd!

I have no problem with people being drunk (seriously, how could i??) - and tomcat what does throwing beer bottles at random sceners have to do with SCENE spirit?

Oh yeh, also kudos to gargaj with friends for that brilliant 64kb!
many many photos at http://www.slengpung.com as well.
