Releasing at parties

category: general [glöplog]
The idea of presenting your demo before showing it was done at the mainparty, and it worked pretty well.

It makes thing more personal, it helps identifying the creators behind a demo, and, well, it makes you think about what sort of justification for the mess people will experience you can find, which is a good exercise, I find.

Knos: I'm not sure... I was watching from the stream, and I kinda felt it was a bit too tedious - most people talking felt like something "to get over with".

I'd be scared as hell to present a demo in from of the audience.

There are some people in the scene that make me uncomfortable, but Smash isn't one of them :) Presenting a demo in front of the audience would just remind me too much about high school presentations. If the demo doesn't speak to the audience, I don't think anything at least I can say that could make the difference..

Also, breakpoint democompo with three-minute speeches from all participants.. I can imagine the bottles flying after fifteen demos or so :D

it should be optional of course, no need to add any fun-spoiling constraint :)

i think it would be better if it occurs after the projection so that the creators can decide if they want to speak or not (not everyone is a star on stage...).

And as any other piece of art, a demo should be enjoyed with a virgin mind, but afterwards it's good to refine your first feeling with some more technical and collateral knowledge... i think :>

"I'm sorry, I thought it would be a cool idea to give this fake fun demo into the compo but now I'm not that sure anymore. Oh my god, I'm so sorry. Please forgive me."

Is it that, what you want?

Besides that, talking after the compo in a small group or even ASM-TV like talk shows wouldn't hurt. During the compo it's only an option as long as the compo hasn't many entries.
