@dubmood, I try to keep some of my latest mp3 for some other projects than just "being again 10th" and I just don't care when I release my modules for demoparty (though I track them ith as much serious than my other things).
And I find it lame to render modules as mp3 just to be able to fit in a music compo. I want to see some real module sport going.

I just find it funny to see there is a SID compo and no multichannel compo (except a fast ohc), I just hope the SID compo will bring enough people so it won't be cancelled.

Plus, I want to add that making a module is a nice musical sport but require less time than composing a music, mixing it "perfectly" and then producing it and I lack time.
traditionally, multichannel tracked music compo gets few entries. Its also a pretty uninteresting way of competing since, if you want any entries at all in a tracked music compo, you have to accept renoise wich then makes no difference from a streaming compo. Sure why not a FT2/IT/PT/ST only compo. 1.44mb max (no packed samples svp) but it would just sound so 1998 and ppl would submit alot of 32chan chiptunes sounding like ABBA hits.

Or to just quote breakpoint:
Quote:
There is no longer a seperate tracked music compo, just convert your entries to MP3/OGG and submit them to the streaming music compo (we feel the distinction between tracked and streaming music is pretty irrelevant nowadays).

btw, there is no SIDcompo, its a multiplatform chipcompo, meaning gb, atari (pokey & ym2149) etc and not only sid is allowed ^^

imo, a 3hour fast tracked music compo is a good compromiss to not having a tracked music compo. I prefer more partyspirit with happenings during the day like a fastcompo instead of a tracked music compo with 2-3 entries like moduletechno with samples from elwoodmods ano 1995 vs 32chan chiptunes in 4/4 style worthy the eurovision song contest!. o/ sorry to not agree with you ._.

Ok I get your point and it makes sense, I would not disagree with you as i'm also bored of these tracks at compos.

How can you say it's gonna be so 1998 while you organise a chipcompo?
I'm sorry to say so dude, I have respect for what you put out with main#2 but I think it's nonsense to complain about modcompos being 1998 and "sounding the same crap" and organising a chipcompo... because to me, there are two few real original in such scene as well... question of TASTES indeed.

See my point or?
yeah I get your point, that is just my way of expression, I love to add nonsenceanekdots and references to my arguments! ^^

Plus, your references forgot the usual dnb, discofunk, doskpop and schranz.
but kind of what I meant also is that a "real" tracked music compo, meaning a 1.44mbit limit sounds very 98ish because its hard to evolve it more than that with 8bitsamples etc. Ppl also tend to recycle older tracks samples and samples from CDs from this epoc.
A chipcompo is very 1988ish, and 1988 sounded better than 98 didnt it? =)

doskpop is very eurovision song contest!
added on the 2007-10-28 17:43:43 by Dubmood Dubmood
in fact, if I wouldnt know the real stories, I would have been sure that all thoose doskpopcomposers from the 90s went on to become ghostproducers for that contest (just listen to finnish and swedish entries for example) =)

Errr, 1.44 gives you a lot of possibilities (considering that 64kb can give me much) and well, people rip samples as much as they use sampleCDS and factory presets on streaming entries.
yeah but somehow the sampleCDs used in tracked music entries all sound like Purple motion lizardking or Five musicans =) ok I know im generalising, sorry.

Its just that I cant stand another Pan-flute technosong ARGH
