in the past i had ATI cards, but all the time their drivers was pure crap, bad openGL and other stupids drivers bugs, no more ATI for me now!

i boycott directx9 because of it's dot.net layer bigbrother inside, and i've no standalone install for it, and some of my softwares will not run on it.

so i support only full openGL and NVidia is the best, GEF4200ti is a good choice, if you've more money, buy a ti4600.
Sesse: are you sure the R9600 supports the F-Buffer?
The specs on the ATi-site don't mention it (it's part of 'SMARTSHADER 2.1').
I thought it only had the updated HyperZ-III+ of the R9800, and the improved AA/AF, but NOT the F-Buffer.

zone: i can see your point there. but others will be making dx9 demos (some are out already), and i suspect mempheria will not only be watching your demos ;)

i suspect mempheria will only use his gfx-card for VICE and pr0n.

zone: It's just how you look at it...
Personally I see it the other way... something like "OpenGL seems to work properly only on nVidia cards. D3D seems to be the more compatible API, so I'll just use that one". What you're saying is more like "I support OpenGL, knowing that it doesn't work very well on brands other than nVidia", that doesn't sound like the right thing to do.

I don't have problems with OpenGL demos on my R8500 by the way. The only ones that don't work are the ones that use NV-specific extensions (another good reason to use D3D).

As for "dot.net layer bigbrother", grow up.
And what do you mean by 'standalone installer' anyway?

I didn't encounter any problems with DX9 not running my software either, so I'm not sure what that is about... Perhaps there is a bug in your nVidia drivers? :)

tv is best for old systems and pron, so go for a cheap card with good tv out, and spend the rest on a bigger tv. or pron sites.

get the groove on!

(and quit the damn api-wars. both apis are absolutely usable and very compatible if you just bother writing compatible code. it's a matter of taste and penis-size, and don't patronize opengl-users just because they have no penis)

ati vs. nvidia, opengl vs. directx, amiga vs. st....

Why do people find such stupid things to argue about anyway? Go and fight or fuck someone if you get so stressed over bad drivers or people choosing the wrong computer brand. Trust me, it'll feel much better in the morning.

Well, it never fails, start with any topic you want, and as soon as scali says anything it will become a dx vs opengl, with ofcourse favor to dx :)
