anyone knows if the "demoscene pass" will allow to bring own computers like a real demo party? or is that for the BYOC party thingy?

What does that mean? register a computer? as in bring your own or rent? or either?

it means you're registering a seat and a computer place, like at assembly - you dont HAVE to bring one.

One question: Does one need to be an american to take an american drivers license? Because it costs $10 or something and it only takes 1 week... here is some €300 and some 4 months :D it would be nice ;)

When I was in Israel, I could pay 10$ to convert my license to "International driving license", dunno how it's like in Europe

I think that Xernobyl refers to a drivers license without having taken prior lessons.
I would guess no.

Also, I guess that the average american drives thereafter (no offense, they are probably good drivers, but they might just have a different driving culture than what you are used to).
does that mean xernobyl will be there? =o

BTW, in Denmark a drivers license is ~1200 eur.
Is it true that they have no roundabouts in USA?

You can drive with your EU drivers license in USA without any problems. EU drivers license counts as an "International driving license", but USA's doesn't :).

xernobyl - No! There's a few roundabouts in random places spread across the US, but not many at all.

xernobyl: you need to be a resident to get a license in the US.

imbusy: if you are not a resident, you can drive in europe for one year (or whatever your visa states) with a US license... same with the opposite, for non-US residents, an EU license is only valid for 1 year.

And you need to issue an international driver permit for it... in both cases

my friend went to australia, got a "learners license" for nearly free, bought a car with a friend and drove around half the country. he was then able to transform his australian learners license to a dutch real license with some simple formfilling. he now drives professionally (chauffeuring business men around town in big cars, common student job), and he still never took a driving exam.

what was actually the related context for drivers' licenses? :D
added on the 2008-05-08 10:40:03 by Gargaj Gargaj
Jcl: I lived in California one year and, when buying a car, the insurance company wanted me to get a "Californian license". I guess this would be a valid "US license", so I think you can get one even if you are not a resident (as in my case). Getting one as a tourist might be impossible, though, dunno.

Gargaj: I guess when you start talking about "transportation in the US", the subject arises naturally :)
