Where the devil is the Ass embly 2008 thread?

category: general [glöplog]
I've been getting the vibe that some are boycotting Assembly 2008 - especially from Nosfe and Britelite - is that the general feeling?

Oh no! The Assembly will have to be cancelled now! :)

If anyone has any extra-tickets, I could take one, but I'm not paying ;)

Otherwise, I guess I'll just be at Boozembly like everyone else.

Axel: I guess Smash just automatically assumes that all pointless threads are started by Magic. :) To be fair, this one sounds just like him: "So, are you guys boycotting Assembly?" - "Huh?" - "No?" - "I'll be at Boozembly instead.." .. then, two hours later, "first page" on Gulli: "DEMOSCENE BOYCOTS ASSEMBLY 2008! Sources in the demoscene tell me that..." etc.

gloom has leading, but seriously - i guess we're pretty curious to know what impact nvscene has on asm's compos. (i.e. whether we have some competition. :) )

Smash/Gloom: Having a bit of a trigger-finger, eh? :)

but I can officially confirm that Steel is our own drunkard.

but seriously, I feel a bit similar like Steel minus the term "boycotting". There never has been so little buzz before an Assembly IMO. Like Smash I wonder the same thing, how many groups turned to Nvscene instead of Assembly.

true that. i didn't even know it was now until the game prods started coming in. that said, i also forgot when nvscene is.

I'm pretty sure the whole .fi posse (mfx et al.) will be there too.

still, after a (lets face it) largely disappointing bp in terms of releases (4k and a couple of other things not withstanding), hopefully the "big demos" of the year are still going to show up somewhere, and assembly is usually a good candidate for that.

Don't let that fool you. Abyss is actually 6" tall.

Never mind how tall abyss is, that's one fucking cool envelope he's standing in front of. Do they sell those at partners?

heh. I was wondering the same thing, but hey, everybody knows when the party is, what the party is, whether they like or not (17 years does that =)).

Anyway, I do think we have some pretty darn cool stuff taking places like the Megascreen experiment, nice seminars (from commercial speak from AMD to very non-commercial speak from Nosfe), international acts in the concerts and so on. Total prize pool is worth over €50 000, which makes for a couple metric tons of fingerprint scanners ;-)!

But yeah, it'll be interesting to see the impact of NVScene, which sounds like a very sweet party. Props also to Nvidia for donating good chunk of hardware for the prizes.

Oh and yeah, AssemblyTV is webcasting with Flash, H.264 etc so you can enjoy your compos at high quality at www.assemblytv.net. Seminars will be on their dedicated channel.

Jesus christ that bigscreen is bigger than most demoparties. I wonder if i can make out the details in images from the opposite side of the arena this year :-)
