i find this crappy idea. would ruin the ease of finding out which prods to download. right now i can just click a prod, scroll down really fast to see whether people whose taste i tend to like (plek uncle-x shifter okkie gargaj shadez etc), if they thumb down, i don't need to waste anymore time.

i mean. what's this thing with absolute retards and reviewing stuff anyway. reviewing is for people who've been selected by mag publishers who know those people know what they're talking about. and for some arrogant bunches who think they do (like mckracken/ths, whom i however often agree with). i always believed pouet was for discussion and feedback, not some silly voting system. everybody means a different thing with a certain rating anyway.

I'd like to petition for a proper administration team first..

Why must people always want other people to tell them what's good or bad?? I don't think pouet would be a better place just because prods would get a 0 to 10 scale of telling anyone how good it is.
I think it's half the charm to download real crap once in a whlie, would be really boring to just get what everyone else likes. Perhaps you likes what other dislikes, if you only get the mainstream demos that many likes you could miss some really good stuff!

the point of voting (and subsequently commenting) could be the feedback to the author, or just to open a discussion about certain aspects of the prod. (read: FLAME!!!! :)

I second phoenix here _definitely_ ...!! :-)
Seems that site/prod-care is already sleeping since months already! :-/

i personally think the 3 sale rating system is pretty good.. 1..10 is too granular.

Code, GFX/Design and Music should be split up though as I would always download a demo if it rated well in at least one of these categories.

I'll add that the 3 sales rating wouldn't alter too much the actual display of the prod sheets. But if the voting system changes ( honestly I doubt it will in just one day of maintenace, all the more if it wasn't planned ) what about the actual rating of the 11110 prods :\

I second phoenix about the administration team. I don't know how Pouet works in the back end now, but a team of trusted users should be able to correct wrong infos of some prods.

1 to 10 is too much. But I wouldn't mind two thumbs up and two thumbs down for extra cool and extra shitty productions.
The rating won't be changed, I think the rulez/sucks choice is enough. What might change in the future is how it affects the popularity of the prod.

1 to 10 ratings is often bad because 90% of the people use only the 1 and 10 choice to make their vote count more. That's why I choose only 2 choices in the first place.

Admin team/moderators tools are planned.

I know there won't be as much votes as on imdb.com. But I think there is enough to have at least 4 or 5 different options for voting. This could replace the popularity part in the formula, and that's the goal.

We get a request to change the labels on the 5 ratings at Nectarine about once a year, due to some kind of 'confusion' - which a plus/neutral/minus thing avoids.

Thumb up to Phoenix' comment.

Hell thumbing up/down bbs posts would be stupid and useless, so I vote for that.
I can agree to administration as long as Phoenix never gets any power, he`s a moron who never participated in this so called scene, more than acting as a fukwit.

Nah, i vote me and plek for moderators, we`ll take care of pouet.

I disagree with the petition. A demo is either somewhere between good and excellent, or it's shit.

rainmaker: now you can't vote good and excellent, only good. And I believe there are demos between good and shit.

but there is one between, it can also be a pigface ;-)

what i really want is a double precision signed floating point value for all (but not limited to) the following categories:
- code
- design
- music
- graphics
- compatibility
- rewatchability
- userfriendliness
- configurability
- ....
i'd love to say that a prods mx is 0.45643544....
that'd be feedback to the author....

I could see the use of a voting summary at the top of each demo's page.. like x thumbs up, y pigfaces, z thumbdowns.. or just a "coolness" percentage number based on the votes.. enhanced or cut down somehow by the number of total votes.

yes a voting summary would be nice.
