Breakpoint 2009 - Everything is under control

category: parties [glöplog]
scamp: maybe I sounded too much like a drama queen. Of course I'll enjoy the party just like before (note to self: do not rest in the fluffy carpet(R) in front of the cameras) and it will be great to see all my friends. I just hope it doesn't become some kind of beware-of-the-(nordic)-conspiracy party, with everyone making dissertations about it. I'm having lots of those over here.

I just need a breeeeeeeak...

(and thanks for the email! you can imagine why I am so worried about it ;) )

"Everything is under control" isn't a dark theme, it's a light parody compared to what's actually happening. :-)

what's the big deal? i've got nothing to hide.

sorry hello but that's a very dangerous point of view : if all 'honest' citizens don't fight for individual freedoms, we are running straight to 1984 dystopia :(

horse renoir: This isn't a political discussion thread, feel free to create one on the bbs. But I'll tell you this: If you think the topic is fad, have a trip to russia where currently a anti-riot army of 2,5 Million soldiers is set up, have a trip to UK where these days each and every step you do is watched

added on the 2009-02-23 by scamp

Anti-riot army of 2,5 million... right... to locate this army in russia you'll have to reaaaaally search around cause living in russia I certainly can see no army and hear of no riots. perhaps, the crisis is not in the economy but in the minds
Louigi: Medwedew mobilizes the troops and raises the alert status.
That you havent heard of this, may because the russian media isnt that independent that you might think eh?

And mobilizing doesnt mean that 2.5mio Soldiers meet on a single parking lot, it just means that they got their orders - in their barracks.

Let's see it through his eyes ... hysterical

ah...i forgot: They raised the alert status because they "await" riots.
Not that there are some actually.

Btw: respect to tzhe greeks....they got balls (and 100Mw laserpointers *sigh*)

this is a pointless argument. I can say anything I want about any country and then say that its mass media is simply corrupt. but in reality word of mouth is still the most sophisticated method to get information. there may be problems in russia but there are no riots, really.
ah, await riots. well... people always await something. doesn't mean anything.
Louigi, to be honest. Read before post.
Your leadership awaits riots, no one ever said that there are some currently.

You dont really want to tell me that Medwedew and/or Putin are Leaders who care for the ppl living in russia.
Dont you think that first of all they defend the shareholders of gazprom and other oligarchs?

And further...that you can say anything about any country is nice.
But maybe you should try to raise your voice and talk about just a single country - russia.

Like Politkowskaia did....ah...it was a tragic accident. yes i forgot...sorry.

And to check the own country ... in the our "beloved" FRG (BRD) the deployment of the Army in
case of unrest was introduced last year and passed the Bundestag (Heil Schäuble >:[ ).
So we're pretty much screwed too, IF the german "Michel" finally gets his lobotomized head up again.
And that's one hell of a big IF...

Therefore Breakpoint is an ideal place to come together and celebrate.
There's a cheesy carnival catch phrase that goes like:
"So jung kommen wir nie wieder zusammen" :D

But it may fit for the party...who knows what will happen this year.
Anybody noticed the famous summer-dull last year ?? There was none.
So things are speeding up exponentially.

Let's go crazy demoscene style and leave your politics at home please!
added on the 2009-02-24 11:01:36 by bartman bartman
to the people who complain about the 'serious' party theme : i consider it bold, challenging and on-topic! 'digital garden' was cute and naive, some brutal change is greatly refreshing.

don't forget that there are always been 'political' demos/debates in demoscene history, even if some don't like them and tend to ignore them.

my favorite ones are : the powerful State Of Mind by Bomb! and the prophetic Kapital by... Farbrausch! (my favourite FR prod if you put technical accomplishment apart)

even in the original scene there are some groups whose activity is based on political protest, like old BLeH.

and by the way you aren't forced to take this dark theme too seriously from a political and practical point of view : it could be seen just as a vast playground for art expression, see how many popular references take place in a dystopian universe (blade runner, brazil, star wars...), that's a convenient way to expel and express 'bad' impulses, fears, wicked concepts creatively! :)
