i've actually won compos with music that i myself felt to be totally boring and uninspiring.

Congratulations on being a sell out. Nicely done, Sir.

but i guess you would need to know the ps beyond the noise artfaggot whinner that you take me for to realize that. you and probably 80% of the people reading this.

Well, you're not making that easy for us, are you?

One thing is that you don't happen to like "our" particular brand of tea (and obviously are overlooking prods from "norwegian electro drumnbass producers" with other brands), another thing is that you for some insane reason seems to believe it's some sort of planned conspiracy to win compos. What the hell? Do you think we have regular meetings, secret handshakes and satanic rituals?

Also, you might not be paying enough attention, as you would have to go back to 2005 to find a year I had nothing but dnb in demos.
So could it be that the variation you are looking for is out there, but you fail to notice it? Or is it just that techno, something weird and noisy, psytrance, psydub (or whatever it is), house, funk or oldskool rave (german flavor) is too close to "drum and bass" for you to recognize that there actually is some variation in the scene?
And considering I'm not the only musician in the scene, I would assume it's highly likely there are other styles and genres being done also. If you don't see anything else it's because you don't want to see anything else. And that's your problem, not ours.

ps: I see your point, but (fortunately) we are not the media industry, where everyone has to come up with something "hip" and "cool" all the time, in order to sell whatever they are selling.

Sure, you vote and comment and that might influence people to do better, but you certainly can't demand that just to be entertained for free.

Also, I don't want to hurt anyone, but it's a bit naive to think that everyone on the demoscene is or has to be outright creative. Some are still learning to be better, some are just going with the flow and do whatever is currently "in", and some will never break out from mediocrity because they can't or because they just like it there and it's only the community that counts for them.

You mean the Nordic Conspiracy? Oh God, it all makes sense now!

in my head it doesnt compute properly how creative people can enjoy doing the same thing over and over and over and over again in the same style

This is probably where the disconnect lies. If you perceive people's music as "being the same, over and over and over" again, maybe, just maybe, you don't know a whole lot about that particular style of music.

To use your own, often repeated, words: just because you don't enjoy a particular brand (or indeed brands) of music, or you don't understand it, or you cannot tell different pieces of music apart.. it doesn't mean that other people can't.

Ps: What I meant by incompetence was transparent enough for you to get a grasp of I thought, but I was apparently wrong. Firstly, I don't have a distorted image of yours. We met at Breakpoint and we had a bit of a discussion which was okay. The thing you don't get is: you are crying to us telling that "you guys are just doing the same thing over and over again, AND I can see this, AND I can help you change this."; now think about it. This statement obviously yields this kind of a mentality: "I am not monotonous like you guys are, I create different music of a billion different colors from an unbounded palette". Well, this isn't the case to be honest... You know there's this thing called style of preference. Gargaj has his own, Ferris has his own, so does Puryx, Lug00ber, Gloom, Willbe ... and many others that I know.

Just because people incorporate their own style into the genre they are working within doesn't make it all boring but to be honest it makes it rather interesting and unique. Because in the end the hardcore tracks made by Gary J. Hung and Mark van Den sound totally different (they are both sceners, yes). One of them is Garycore and the other one is Markcore.

So the insult part comes from the fact that you repeatedly kept calling people I know and I utmost value, egoist; egocentric and moron. Well, just like Lug00ber put it out, you are not helping us perceive you as you really think you are; instead you are painting an image of a whiner Ps who talks like high school students who didn't do their homework. You keep shoveling some random "you guys lack variety" bullshit down our ears / eyes but yet if you listen to a Lug00ber track and a Gloom track and can't tell the difference... well I am sorry but with which musical knowledge you speak then?

To conclude Ps, your incompetence lies beneath the image of yourself you keep painting for us. It is a Ps that is in a slump, who feels like his efforts have been wasted, who feels unappreciated. Maybe one of those syndromes where you needed a hug? Or someone to tell you "wow Ps, this noiseglitchfuck track is amazing... very original". Well, I am amongst those people who enjoy noise prods. And to be honest I haven't heard a single Ps track in any demo so far, so how do you expect any of us to appreciate you or your work as a different color of the spectra if the fucking spectra lacks the color? To put it simpler: Don't expect us to see the variety you introduce unless you PRODUCE within our reach -- à la Demoscene.

So this is the entire shithole you dragged us into. We are telling you "people are different, and it's not your fault that everybody isn't thinking like you" to which you reply "I don't give a fuck you egoist morons, CHANGE YOURSELVES!". Well... *sigh* as I previously said, maybe you should really get over it.

oh and I know I don't stand a chance, because I'm a professional musician and a producer who happens to be a demoscener. also, jazz musicians killed the scene.
