sorry to say this, but rusko's bionic commando track is impressively tasteless :) the worst of two worlds!

drie seconden en dan zet je die kankerherrie af
je zou willen dat men bepaalde stijlen gewoon in de "scope" hield waar ze in horen of er in elk geval 10 keer over nadenken eer je bepaalde elementen naar een ander podium tilt as it were

trieste pleuriszooi :)

ik nie begryp nie
As 4mat said, there is a lot of refreshing new stuff being made on places like 8bc and chipmusic. Its nice every once in a while. Personally, I find a lot of it boring but every once in a while someone puts out a damn good release. I think what I like most about it is that its not a genre so much as its a medium for making music. People don't worry about filesize or any of that. They experiment with different consoles, computers, effects, styles, etc. Oh, and botb is pretty cool too hehe.

Personally I don't give a flying fuck wether or not it's mainstream, If it's nice I'll listen to it, otherwise I don't.

Well, if people want to make a living off of it, lots of other people need to pay.

Allow me to sum it up like this: if I see one more hipster doofus "rocking" on stage with his Gameboy, "making" "micromusic", I'm going to vomit. Crap music is crap music, no matter what genre.

Atleast the 'chiptune' community appears to be quite open-minded compared to the 'demoscene'... not only referring to the music here.
And tbh, I'm afraid it might be because of the age-thing and the 'unwritten rules' of the demoscene. Which makes me think our 'heritage' is sometimes our creative 'handicap'.

Stelletje sjembekken.

I don't know what's more disturbing in that youtube comments - the totally wrong facts or that he tells people to "google" for Kohina and Pouet instead of giving the super-simple URLs.

"8 bit visuals" with an xbox 360 controller on a macbook?
added on the 2010-03-13 17:29:39 by stijn stijn
if 8bit is mainstream they're only 20 years too late. that says enough about it being mainstream or not.
Best part of a Hamburg micromusic party back then was when it was midnight and all the big screens with the "8bit visuals" showed the MacOS 9 auto-defragmentation window instead. And the girls "operating" the macs weren't able to fix that. We laughed. :)

Serves them right! Who uses a mac eats shit!
Apparently I offended Gameboy-musicians everywhere, so let me clarify my post above: what I was talking about were all of these hipster mainstream newcomers (see thread title for hints) who has latched on to the "8-bit!!111" music because it is trendy, and without any sense of history and no musical talent. I have seen plenty of them on festivals and as warm-up acts for various bands in Norway and elsewhere, and I just can't stand their uninspired crap. And! It doesn't help if they dress in white suits with pink or shock-green ties, grow a beard and jump around the stage after hitting the "Play"-button. :)
