euskal 2010??

category: parties [glöplog]
nah, you are wrong, he was for real trying to see what he could do afterparty and let it clear I'd know about it
And I'm not demanding anything, it just seems fair to me knowing what officially went wrong after spending more than 600 euros, travelling more than 1200 km and support the party with productions and a demoshow.

assuming what you told me before is true there was an organization failure.
Hence the need for an official statement as you have nothing to deal with the party what you tell is worthless.

and for your understanding as it seems you still didn't get it, in that case they should:
1) tell me "you're too late, sorry" and instead...
2) not accept my prods and going to admin to unlock categories again and inserting them into system
3) not show/play them on the big screens
4) not publicaly release them so I could release them at another party
5) since they assumed responsability of accepting and using them, inserting prods into voting system (again yeah, after the already delayed deadline)

From those 5 points above I fail to see where "mostly" my fault was.
Your clairvoyance amazes me...
And amazingly you're the only one putting the blame on me, I wonder if all my niggahz+other who went to the party are wrong and you are the only guy who's right...

but then, take this the niciest possible way (really!)
talking with you is just like fucking for virginity, read: useless

just get off the matter as you have nothing to deal with the party and go back to your life, leave it
trust me, from now on, about this, you'll be talking to the hand

and yes, I can call it a bad day

Yep, that's what happened:

I provided my email address so that people coming after the deadline could send the entries before the deadline. That way I could verify them and all that jazz.
Lots of people made use of that function, including ZeroShift -- another .pt scener - so I assumed the system worked. I confirmed to every submitter that their prod was OK (just ask anyone who entered the compo).

You sent me an email on Tuesday asking me about what happened if you were late for the deadline - but I guess due to the funny way you wrote it, it went to SPAM (it's the only email that has been flagged as spam since I got that account, actually). I didn't even think of checking that folder, no time for that in the day before flying to Spain.

On Thursday, the music deadline was delayed around 45 minutes. Once we reached that and I closed the compos, I copied all the productions to a pen drive so that the guy which deals with the jury could meet with them and they could evaluate the productions etc etc.

Later you arrived to the party and told me about the email (which was totally news for me), I told you that I had had ZeroShift's email but nothing else. I was confused and very busy but I thought "fine, I'll reopen the compo again so that he can submit his entry, maybe he has sent me the entry anyway and it has gone to SPAM, I'll check that later once I'm done with todays' compos and have some food and caffeine..."

That's when you sat down and added your entries while I spoke to Navis I think (I can't quite remember now). It seems it went fine and your entries got played later that night.

Once the compos finished I copied all of them to the internal FTP so that everyone could download them...

... and here's where it went "wrong": I wrongly assumed that the jury would download those files just in case. But they didn't download them; they used the version of the compos that had been copied once the deadline had happened. And your entries weren't there in that pen drive.

So technically your works were out of competition, although they were played and distributed. I assume my fault on that: maybe you might have wanted to enter them in other compo if I had told you upfront that you were late, that I didn't get any email with your entries and that if you didn't want to release them you'd better not get them added to the system and played in the party, albeit out of competition.

I should have also verified that all the entries for all the compos appeared in the results, but I had no time for that (I was given *part* of the results like 15 minutes before the prize giving ceremony). Still, let's imagine that was my fault too.

Obviously I couldn't realise all this in the middle of the PRIZE GIVING CEREMONY. It was already messy enough, I didn't need more confusion, and that's why Sabino was trying to calm you down.

I wouldn't hold my breath on having the results reevaluated for the HQ and multichannel compos in this very specific situation. If it had been that the entries had been delivered on time, maybe, but in this case, it was even wrong on my side to allow your entries.

So let me apologise for distributing your entries if you didn't want them to be distributed. But do understand that you didn't do things properly anyway; you should have sent me another email or tried to contact me again with the entries when you saw that I didn't reply to the first one. Or even post here "warning" that your e-mail hadn't been answered, or in euskal's forums, or in escena.org, or... I don't know, there are gazillion ways this could have been done the RIGHT way, but it wasn't, and there's nothing that can be done now about that, I'm afraid.

Hope this feels official enough for you.
Good! it is official for me yeah thanks.
That's all I needed to know and not some autist like lunatic guy putting the blame on me (wtFUCK?!) a gazillion times over and over.

I never expected results of 3D/mp3/tracked to be reevaluated anyways.
Prize/place was not my interest there.
It's just it really sucks *not even having a chance* to enter 3 compos because a minor glitch.

btw a thing you need to know is I tried to contact you over and over and over, trust me.
As you noticed already... email epic fail.
escena.org epic fail. Some cat ate my tongue or something like that it says.
Euskal forums epic fail again as you didn't read my message there: http://www.euskal.org/bb/viewtopic.php?f=56&t=2926&p=56535#p56535
Asking Stage7 on IRC fail, a load of times, more than legally permitted. Just ask him.
So, again, reality check: I did things properly atmost I could.

Whatever, apologises accepted because I know none of you organizers would that to me on purpose. Never. Ever.

Bottomline: Karma is a bitch!
(really!)

Peace and all that...

Good, I'm relieved you're not like about to explode. In any case, the "please check your email" was just too generic thing to say. I was actually checking my email like... every 10 minutes the days prior to the party (a bit more like every 30 min in the party, when I had a chance to do it). Same goes for the forum.

What I would suggest if that happens in the future, is... just create a new thread for that the next time. Posting in an existing thread doesn't work. I might have understood that 'pls check your email' as 'random .pt scener sent you something'!!

The e.org oneliner seems to be having problems but I'm just too busy these days to have a look at the code.

BTW respect trace... he's not a lunatic guy, he's a very nice guy, okay? ;)
well yeah, sorry for that, he hammered me (enough) by trying to distorce reality...

me exploding ? nah, thats a never
just feel like shit right now for have been so unlucky, I'll get in shape soon.

trace and sole are sceners that I truly respect, also nice company for beers and such.

Evil is a clever and sensible guy that I learnt to respect and listen/read carefully.

having said all this, all I want to write is:

THIS IS WHY I'M NEVER GOING BACK TO EUSKAL

seriously. you guys have to think a couple of things over. maybe it's karma. I dunno.
