modizer : iphone/ipad mod player

category: music [glöplog]
Haha, no I was just using your name as an example of how search might work, but that's a classic example of where it can go wrong :D If that file is in a folder called say 'artists/distance', the metadata will be correct though.

No time to check out any new tunes really at the moment :( Just work, work and more work. I have a well established playlist of stuff that's good background music for coding, that's about the limit of my listening these last few weeks. I'll stick firefly on the list of stuff to check out though :)

Yeah you have to be curious a lil bit more... :D
Interesting thing... Will check that out when I can borrow an iPhone!

Hi, tried here, works well ! In love with the UI..
PLEASE, can you add support for chiptunes formats other than YM ?
PT3 in mind..

isn't SID and NSF chip based music format?
yeah, but not AY-based.

BTW, player is great is modizer but this app really crashes 50% when downloading songs from modland..

i've experienced exactly zero crashes on both iphone4 (4.1) and ipad (4.2) - good job!

Perhaps low memory issues if you're on an original/3g?

Fun. I just tried it again on some of my tunes( yeah, egotrip I know) and noticed that my kl_ra (Regard Anodin) wasn't replaying well. Seems like Schismtracker allowed me to do something that would only play well into xmplay.

Oh and sillysilly hunz made modizer crashed when listenning to volume :)
very cool app - one feature I'd like to see added would be search filtering by author / song title (e.g. search for "slide" (polka bros) will give you tons of stuff by other authors since it's a common word)

(or maybe i'm using it wrong, if so, please do tell)

There are 2 ways to perform search:
- using the "Search" box at the top of each list in the browser. So if you select "Modland" & then "Artists/Files" you can search for an artists since it will basically filter the list of artists using the pattern provided ("slide").
- using the "Search" tab, in this case modizer will try to match your pattern with the full path of each indexed songs. full path for modland are something like "Scream Tracker 3\Purple Motion\Strshine.s3m".

Hi there,
I have sent v1.1 for review to Apple, so if everything goes as planned it should be available sometime during next week.
It includes (not a complete list):
- MDX/PDX (sharp X68000) support
- SID playback fixed and now choice possible between SIDPLAY1 & SIDPLAY2/ReSID
- optimizations for smoother browsing & playback on slower device.
For example SID or GME formats can be played on iPhone 3G.
- World Charts based on a google app : most played/rated song are listed and can be downloaded if they are part of MODLAND or HVSC collection.
- Global UI adjustements
- Better sugsongs handling
- tons of bug fixes
...

Upgraded! :)
Nice, thanks for the update!
Works very well, after listening to my music (cyberdream.xm) , it appeared on the charts, very cool :)
I've updated the "world charts" web app with more options (filters, google search for files not in modland or hvsc, ...).
Feedback welcomed :-)

BTW, right now the web app access is not restricted since I'm still far from google quotas, so feel free to check within your browser :
http://modizerdb.appspot.com/

Perhaps it would be cool to have it shared with droidsound ...

Hi guys,

v1.2 is getting closer, meanwhile I've started a nabble (free, simple, noads ;-) )forum to gather users feedback and features requests, so please feel free to register & post!

Basically v1.2 is focusing on fixing bugs, improving UI, with also 2 new plugins : GSF (Gameboy Advance) & ASAP (Atari/pokey) which sounds better than GME (Game Music Emulator). Modplug lib was also updated to fix the wrong tempo issue (linked to Noisetracker handling of TEMPO/SPEED commands which is a bit different from Protracker & clones).

Oh sweet. Glad to hear the app is still being updated :)
You know how you can control the app via the global iOS music controls; is there anyway you can get it to display the mod title/artist on the unlock screen, when you double-click home button while in stand-by mode?

Just a question (I havn't tested it yet), it is possible to play v2m files (KB's V2 synth engine for 64k) with Modizer? Files are available on modland, and source of player are downloadable :)

The player works well on my iPhone 4, btw is it possible to add a sort by filename in the sort choice? If not you have to use the "search" box for an exact song...
added on the 2011-01-31 12:45:50 by rez rez
@jonnyram : I wanted to do that but Apple does not allow to customize lock screen... I could probably do it but then I would only be able to publish modizer through cydia :-(

@rez, I'll check this, thx for pointing it out;-). What do you mean by a sort by filename ? currently files are sorted by filename...
