But there's no Kenya in Street Fighter II. Unless there's a Super Dooper Hyper Mega Ultimate Deluxe Street Fighter II Kenya Edition I'm not aware of.

scamp, so basically you got mad about magic's german twin brother posting bullshit on his website, and thus decided to take it out on a bunch of norwegians who want to help make TG cooler for sceners? wtf is your problem man. nobody disrespects your work on breakpoint, everyone thinks you did an ACE job (well except vibrator apparently, but who cares about him). why piss people off so much? the only real answer i can come up with is that you genuinely believe that germany has the sole right to a demoparty at easter. is that really it?

skrebbel, the trolling reflex has always been strong in him :)

it's interesting that anyone still takes that seriously though :)

ryg: that's not weird at all, the more respect a person has, the more blind followers he will have, regardless of what he's saying.

you know.. like.. religion!

skrebbel: Yes, I got mad due to magic's german twin brother publishing bullshit, but also due to the "Is Breakpoint moved to Norway" questions. And to piss someone off, it takes someone who wants to be pissed off - see my explanation above.

And in all honesty: This "germans think they are the middle of the world"-stuff is disturbing, there are a lot of signs for nationality-based inferiority complexes in this thread, which I find silly. I always thought that the nationality of a scener only is of relevance when it comes to making jokes about stereotypes. A demoparty on easter traditionally is the most important scene event in the year, because it used to be the event where next to all sceners from all over the world meet. This was a good thing, and it would be bad if in future sceners on easter weekend would be clustered. Believe it or not, I see it as a loss if Nosfe on easter weekend is at a different place than I am. But this has exactly nothing to do that this "complete family meeting" is bound to a specific country.

The easter event was held in Germany simply for the facts that
- There is a big community of experienced demo party organizers in Germany, over 50 sceners who are active in this field.
- Mekka became a damn good demoparty over time
- For the countries most sceners live in, Germany is quite good to reach
- The infrastructure for demopartys is rather good in germany

With this perspective, a new easter demoparty in Germany would have had better chances of becoming the "complete family meeting". To me, EG didn't have that potential. But this has exactly zero to do with nationalities. And now we are in the situation that the best such an event can achieve is a "near-complete family meeting with hopefully not too many family members missing because they are at a competing party".

So, no, none of this has to do with "germany has the sole right". Your assumption is wrong, and you should think this through one more time.

Other people have other perspectives, but to me the key is simply that even if I'm not organizing it anymore, I want to be part of a "completely scene family meeting" on easter weekend, especially because I never had the chance to be part of Breakpoint as a visitor myself. Or, in different words: I don't give a shit about Germany, but I do care about the scene.

yo, point taken. i think you have a much better argument here than you had when it was all about which party gets to call itself "breakpoint's followup". good going.

Leija: No, Religion is based on some institution having absolutely no valid point, but using manipulation and suger-coated messages that distract from the real point to make people believe in it.

With me, it's completely the other way round. I usually do have a point, an agenda that makes sense, but the communication I use is so offensive that there is a lot of uproar. This also causes people to be very critical of what I say, and a lot of counter-opinions to be expressed. I don't see a single post from anyone in here that could be counted as "blind follower", it's pretty much the opposite: Even my best friends in here are giving a differentiated view about what they think about my agenda and/or me. Some, as ryg, simply filter out the flaming/trolling part, others find it funny, and again others also are pissed off from time to time.

While we're apparently looking to the past to dictate the future, I feel obligated to mention that before there was Mekka, there was The Gathering. So while Germany turned out to be a better location for many sceners to travel to, thousands of people found it acceptable to gonto Norway back in the day too.

a ranting scamp and a weird twitter-account. maybe it's only a new kind of viral marketing to promote a new demoparty (without the need to reveal any informations too early) ? ;)

fair enough. But somewhere along the line The Gathering became a Gamer Mayhem which seems to
have pissed off even most of the Norwegians beginning with 2001.

skrebbel, you never worked with havoc before?!?!?!? ;)
I see Maalis point here, the only competent demoparty organizer I know that aren't a forum troll is Puryx! And maybe he would rule the demoscene if he would just be more unpleasant and provocative online?
