If you had a timemachine, which party would you travel back to see/hear the compos at?

Grendelparty 1988 to see the beer drinking compo

Offhand, probably The Party 2000 to see FR-08 the first time.

I would go to Digital Symposium 1992 just to see Jesus on E's.

and bring more LSD to the partygoers.

@Sesse: Sure, that was cool, but goddamn, everything else about that party sucked.

TP'95 for Closer, Vision, Faktory, Dataworld, Cyberlogik, Passengers, Crazy Sexy Cool, ...aarrghghgh, I want 1995 back (the year, not the demo!)

The shocking truth for everyone wishing to go to a party in the 90ies: You all would be greeted by hoardes of annoying 13-16 year old nerds.

Get off my lawn!

Mekka Symposium 2002 for Planet Potion.

I was there but we were out eating and came back to the hall exactly when the crowd went wild.. I still remember looking up at the bigscreen, reading "Planet Potion by Potion" and then "End of compo". Horrible moment!

All right, first The Party 1991 to actually get the point why Odyssey won over Hardwired.
Secondly, and because I witnessed Planet Potion and the pandemonium that followed from start to finish :P, I'd travel waaaaaayy back to check out who the hell did built them freakin' pyramids in Giza and when and for what purpose.

Then I'd come back and make a demo about it :D

Simulaatio 2006 (what qmotvs said), M&S 2002 (my first demoparty abroad) and Breakpoint 2008 (was too drunk and missed the Reyn Ouwehand concert)

In compo sense, I guess I've been luckiy in a way that I've watched live the demos that are still my favourites (like Popular Demo @ BP'03, 1995 @ Assembly'06, Masagin @ BP'08, Frameranger @ Assembly'09...) but the parties I miss the most are due to general awesome atmosphere and people who made it so great. It's been funny to realize in this and last year that you've gone to same parties with certain people since 2001 or so, but you've never actually got to know them until now :)

Before I forget - to you all, who ever stayed at Bingen hotels...

Show your respect to the hotel staff and send them a Christmas card, since we won't be coming back. At least at Starkenburger Hof the ladies at the reception said that we're the only reason they're even open during Easter, since there's no other guests. Their friendly and open attitude towards us sceners made the party twice as enjoyable, so sending a card thanking them for the past 8 years is least I (and hopefully you, too) can do :)

Assembly 02, so that I'd know the proper procedure for submitting oldskool entries and could have got this into the right compo. (Except then I would have had 24 hours less to work on it, so it might not have gone on to be the best demo I've ever written. Time travel's a bitch like that. Not knowing about Boozembly was probably a factor too...)

...and also, second time round I might find out what everyone else saw in Variform that I didn't appreciate as a wide-eyed PC scene n00b. And, um, still don't. *ducks incoming flames*

neptun: i saw Desert Dream at TG'93. For me it wasn't a big happening. I love the demo, and had more fun watching it at home afterwards, but at the party i felt like most people were busy playing games or just talking while it was shown. Great graphic compo at that party.

My personal favourite moment was probably watching Dope at TG95 (though the only good entry in the compo).

I would like to revisit all parties that played Rob Is Jarig.

i would visit breakpoint 2011!
I would go back to the Fried Bits (Atari) series of parties, 1993 to 1995. Especially the seminal 1995 event. I did get invitations for these back in the day, but usually at very short notice and the finances to attend weren't there :-(

Another one which I missed out on and would have liked to attend was the Siliconvention 1997 at Bremen, this time due to intense competition at work to get Easter vacation (which I lost...)

Oh, of course, I'd revisit both editions of Playboy Mansion Party :-)

i would go to tg/asm in the mid 90s.
Oh, I always hated not going to TCC93 (which I was supposed to, but couldn't), because I missed seeing Crystal Dream 2 being shown for the first time.
