PS2 prods

category: general [glöplog]
I'm really sick of seeing PS2 prods released as ELF files and such, cause it means that i can't view them, and I really would like to. I have no network adapter or usb adapter, and anyway my ps2 is too far away from my pc for that to be practical.

So... can anyone tell me how a ps2 ISO is created, so i can make a cd that can be loaded? Or is there a site detailing how it's created and what files are needed?

offtopic, but probably of use:

there's no way i'm having something as ugly as that in my house, although it's still tempting to buy one, chip it, and never ever buy any software, purely so that MS loses money.

Actually, I like consoles because of their power and what you can do with it. I don't see the Xbox as a pure videogame console, but as a nice mini PC which I can use to watch movies and listen MP3s on my TV and carry it arround everywhere. As well as all those nice fuctions like emulations, image views etc. pp.

So I dunno why everyone hates the Xbox so much. I mean... look over to Japan, even more PSone and Dreamcast are sold in Japan than Xbox. But I also don't like the PC kiddies who feel now so goddamn cool cause they imagin they are *real* videogamer now.

And cause of the way I see this topic, PS2 is underpowered and has ugly specs and hardware. Not even a bit interesting for me... expect Gran Turismo of course. And the PS2 Linux Kit also looks neat.

MS bashing? Bah.. That's just so 90s. Grow up!

Yepp. Grow up and use Linux if you're so absolutly against it. Less talk, more act!

And in a funny way, that's 100% true that this is a habbit of the 90s. :)

I'd be happy to use linux if the apps i really need were available. And as to MS bashing... I've worked in IT for a pretty long time and seen microsoft's strategies in practice enough to completely despise the company. I do use their products, seeing as I have to (mainly as a result of said strategies), but i refuse to pay for them so at least MS is not benefiting financially.

As to xbox, yeah with a chip in and the media players and stuff its pretty good. PS2 hardware is perhaps less strong, but it has some interesting features which could make for some great demos. And at least it's not fugly ;D

Now back to the original question... can anyone tell me how to create an iso so I can load up the elf files without a link cable?

This is not google. This is pouet. On Pouet, the correct answer to all questions is either 'shut the fuck up' or 'OOOOh train wreck!!!' or 'BASS' or 'Gimme back my lobster!' or 'come to Kindergarten.'

hth. hand. gsg,ypw.
I have linux on my PS2
Gimme back my lobster!

Just like the amiga!

shifter: amiga isn't dead! A new model will be released soon, which will completely dominate the world! It's an mp3 player, with a full commodore logo!

Oh how leet! We also received Commodore labled CD-Rs and DVD-Rs as a prize at the Buenzli! That's the Commodore spirit!

...not to mention that AWESOME 10-in-1 game doohickey in a joystick. Thanks Tulip, this is *exactly* the kind of thing the rabid C= fans have been waiting for!

But to come back to amiga: real men use WinUAE. Ask Slemmy!

Fact is, most respected people with Amiga-roots laugh at all of you "sorry I'm a tad late" Amiga-until-death-do-us-part-even-though-I-can't-do-anything-cool-myself folks.

Dumb dickhead :)

Could someone with some Amiga-credibility come over here and bash this fool? Perhaps *that* will make him cry and re-evaluate his point of view.

Me neither. It's cheap, not a total bitch to modify into something useful and doesn't make your dick fall off. It's a pretty nice thing to fool around with.

shifter: most of the anti-xbox is not much more than the usual anti-ms stuff, which i can agree with, except where its the usual "ms sucks, linux is 1337" bollocks from people who can't give a real reason. There's also a lot of fanboy crap from people who bought a ps2 and therefore think anything else is shit (i suspect a few of the amiga die-hards fall into this group too, but never grew out of it).

In short: buy an xbox, mod it, stick all the great stuff on it, make demos with it, but never buy a game.

Funny to see amiga and xbox people diss each other here. After all, both the amiga and xbox are for wanker coders who only know how to code on fixed hardware. Real men go for the challenge of the
driver and hardware hell that's also known as PC :-)

sparcus: actually, I muttered a similar tongue-in-cheek phrophecy about xbox sceners becoming bitter fucks in a couple of years ;)

"feh! kids nowadays... 64Mb of unified ram should be enough! We can do that -on 733MHz, mind you! Damn kids... where's my 'X' shirt? XBOX! XBOX!"

Man, I can't wait :)

oh, and psionice... you can consider ripping the innards out of the black box and stick them in a sexy micro-ATX case. More bulky, but probably less boxy.

But anyway, still no takers on the original question? We've derailed it quite a bit :)
