Screening in Oslo on the 8th of February - sign up and get your free tickets here! The screening begins at 18:00 and will be followed by a demoshow curated by the Solskogen crew and the Pikslar ("20 Years of Norwegian Demoscene History") crew. The screenining is held in the Frogner Cinema, which has a great audio/visual setup (2k projector, kickass PA-system), and is located next door to a great tapas and cocktail bar. During the screening and in the intermission all visitors are free to bring both food and drink from the bar into the cinema.

If you're in or near Oslo on the 8th of February, you should definitely stop by - it'll be kickass. :)

can one sign up and not come? :P i dont know if i will be there. i'd have to travel 6-7 hours with train.

Just watched it on Tokyo Demo Fest online stream. Totally blown away.

It really covers many aspects of our hobby and our culture we all love so much (yes, we do). It wasn't as Hungarian centered as I feared it to be, sure, there's some more insight into HU demoscene, but there's absolutely nothing wrong with it! Would love to have version with full english voiceover so I can turn my head around and not miss important info from the subtitles, but that's just me, being a guy who has to always complain about something... :D

So, all in all, brilliant documentary, very fun to watch too! I'd love to see reactions from people who never heard about the demoscene.

Hope to have it available as download soon! *hint, hint* (but not before it's shown in several places around the world)

Also, mad props for those subtle demo effects in the background and the "C64 town", that was really awesome.

It's a pretty cool documentary, even if a little bit .hu centered, but given the crisis et al.

Also, I want it dubbed in 3 or 4 languages in a row, like all decent documentaries should be. With the same guy doing all the voices.

I want Gargaj to dub it in Norwegian.

So the film was already screened at TokyoDemoFest and Icons (to what I understand to be pretty good reviews), and still coming up are a lot more, so don't hesitate to contact us if you have the chance to show it somewhere.

saw it at icons. a really good documentary.

Essential viewing for anyone who's interested in the demoscene, whether you're been on the scene for 10-20 years or you've just heard about it 5 minutes ago. Can't wait to get to show this to the latter.

Enthusiastically second what jobe said about introducing folks to the scene with this film.

Ok, I may be biased (must say that because you can find my non-scene name in the credits) but I'll say this film is ideal for introducing newcomers to the scene, covering a multitude of topics in a concise time period. I excitedly look forward to showing it here. It is detailed, yet it has breadth, but never lags.

what about that Berlin screening?

Saw it at Icons. The best demoscene documentary so far, and one of the best overall representations of the demoscene ever. I'm particularly glad that all the essential aspects of the demoscene were covered, as most presentations tend to ignore "marginal" things such as extreme sizecoding and oldschool platforms. The only things that annoyed me were the obvious Hungarian bias and the fact that some demo clips didn't seem to fit very well with the topic being discussed (e.g. showing clips of modern demos when talking about the beginnings on the C-64). Also, I would've included some (more) discussion about the various demo styles.

What viznut said, but without the annoyances.

We had the Oslo screening yesterday, with almost 100 visitors in a professional cinema (with a bar next door :), and it was AMAZING. Such a great night, and SUCH a good documentary -- hats off to the people behind it!

I'll go one further than Haohmaru and say it's the best demoscene documentary ever, not just the best Hungarian one.

Well, it is part of a series on the underground scenes of Budapest, so yeah, it's pretty Hungary-centric.

Watched it last night, I really enjoyed the documentary. Great stuff.

It's only biased if it claims not to be. It's right there on front-street that it's rooted in Hungary, so trying to make it into something bad is just stupid. :)
